Jasmine Zha

Born to an upstanding political Ambassador of China, Jazz had a pretty sweet hand in life. She was sent overseas to learn proper English in Wales once she was of age to go to boarding school. There she was roomed with another woman named Noelani Kekai who quickly became her one and only best friend. They both possessed similar interests and goals in life, it was a serendipitous match and one she has remained ever grateful for experiencing. While she may not have always been around her, she was first and foremost Jazz's best friend regardless of distance.

When she returned to her Hong Kong home at the age eighteen, she had a surprise for her parents. Her experiences abroad had shaped her into an upstanding woman like they had wanted, but not without a catch. She had started to do modeling while in England and had come to like it. So, she told them she was intending to pursue a modeling career, and had no intention to further study politics like her father wished of her. Her mother was overshadowed by her overbearing father, but supported her out of earshot. With so much time spent away from home, Jazz had developed quite the backbone and a soaring confidence to boot. They couldn't persuade her back to the path they wanted, because as she put it - she was rightly old enough to sign her own bloody contracts.

So, sign them she did. She was launched headfirst into a unique and colorful world. Pressure never got her down. Resilience earned her a pretty solid name in Hong Kong, and she branched out to other countries for a variety of companies. A couple of years were spent in Paris, where she picked up on their language easily enough. It seemed that she had a natural knack for learning other countries' tongues, and decided to expand her contract so she could see even more of the world.

Her travels took her all over the place, but in the time up until the outbreak prior, she decided to take a brief holiday. With all the money she had made, it wasn't a financially burdensome decision to make. Responsibility was something highly advocated in midst of her studies in Wales, and so she managed her time and wealth extremely well. Jazz was bright despite never advancing her education because of her other interests. That didn't mean she didn't study things on her own time. While she didn't want a future in politics, she did study it in her spare time in order to keep up with her father up until the day of his death years in 2007.

After the outbreak, she chose to break her contract fully so as to be near home. Her father passed away some years ago, but her mother survived and is living with her in her home. Disabled and under strict care, she likes to stay near home as much as possible now to make up for her years of transgressions against their wishes. She has no regrets for them, but they did support her in the end, albeit from a distance. Though she takes time to herself, she always returns to Hong Kong now to watch over her mother.

Confident and very British, that's the easiest way to describe her. Considering her Chinese roots, she's unique in that respect. She's traditional, but also very into branching out into new things and accepting change as it comes. She embraces it and adapts quickly, just as she does by learning languages in new countries. A colorful girl, she lives a life of no regrets. For the most part, she's extremely flirtatious and terribly candid. It isn't to say she's vulgar, but incredibly blunt about some things -- particularly sex. Though, it would be absurd if she wasn't given her occupation of choice.

Jazz is also laid back and a little lazy when she isn't working. She likes to relax, and when she isn't relaxing - she practices her martial arts, or plays sports. Basically, if she wants to be active, she can and will. If she doesn't? She lounges around and wastes the day away with a smile on her face. She hasn't cooled down her loose ways as she's getting up in age, because she feels that she was turning twenty-one just yesterday.

She can be cultured and classy, but only when the situation calls for it. Jazz can also be extremely polite while still being unbearably condescending. She treats everyone with respect regardless of what she thinks of them, but she's not above subtleties. She feels they are more insulting than blatantly calling someone a petty name. Her disdain is evident, and she's hardly deceptive -- she'd have to quit being blunt to do that.

Psionics — Jazz possesses vast mental powers to affect and manipulate the minds of other sentient beings. She can read minds and communicate mentally with others over long distances. When she telepathically communicates with another person over a distance, that person often perceives her presence as a butterfly-like image bearing large eyes on its wings. She has demonstrated the ability to communicate psychically with someone on the other side of the world. Her mind is almost impossible to invade now, but should it happen she is capable of psychically jumping bodies until she can attach herself to soulless (i.e., mindless) body.

telepathic tracking — Enhanced psionic senses enable her to detect and track other sentient beings by their unique psionic emanations (thought patterns contained in the psionic portion of the spectrum) especially if they pose a threat to her well-being in her immediate vicinity.

psychic shadow — She is able to mask her presence from others. Her abilities go undetected and are very difficult to track, even by very powerful telepaths. She could extend these defenses to others around her as well.

psychic knife — An intense channeling and focusing of her psionic powers to her hands to create “psychic blades”, razor-sharp edges of blue pure mental energy which are the ultimate physical manifestation of her powers. If plunged into the minds of her targets directly, it will disrupt the neurons of her foes by driving the glowing "blade" of mental energy into their skulls. It is able to kill.

mind control — Capable of controlling the minds of others. She tries to avoid doing this, but has displayed the ability on several occasions.

telepathic illusions — The ability to create illusions to make herself seem to be invisible, look like someone else, or make others experience events that were not truly happening. It's not a physical manifestation, she just affects your mental senses. Meaning, she can't make you smell the cake that she's made appear.

mental paralysis — Ability to induce temporary mental or physical paralysis.

amnesia — Could erase any awareness of particular memories or cause total amnesia. Will probably go without ever being used.

psionic blasts — Can project psionic force bolts which have no physical effects, but could affect a victim's mind so as to cause the victim pain or unconsciousness, or even death. Bringing death takes very little effort on her part.

precognition — She has prophetic dreams. In lieu of this, she is also extremely susceptible to people with intense powers on the verge of causing destruction. She has suffered blackouts just to view what is coming, but when it is to that degree she can't make much sense of it at first but she has her ways of figure it out. However, after finding herself in a new body she has become tremendously more resistant to this drawback and can see the future without blacking out despite its extremities.

telepathic immunity — It's as the name would suggest. Jazz is immune to any form of others' telepathy, including telepathic attacks, probes or even attempts at communication. This is likely due to the nature of her telekinesis.

telekinesis — LATENT. The ability to psionically manipulate the physical aspects of reality. She can also move and levitate other people. While she can move objects from a distance and fly as well, she has little inclination to do either in combat situations, much less on a regular basis. She can also create telekinetic shields of various sizes and strength and she can fire mental force blasts with the potential to shatter mountains. She prefers using her telekinesis in forceful ways, because it's easier than in delicate ways (i.e. she can shatter a brick wall more easily than she can slowly levitate a pencil across a room).

telekinetic katana — She can manifest a telekinetic katana blade composed of raw blue-colored psi-energy, which at its lowest intensity, functions to disrupt neural pathways and sever the bonds between molecules, and at its highest level, her katana can slice an armored opponent and cut through the armor, but leave the attacker physically unharmed. She can also use her sword to shatter telepathic power-inhibitors imposed on others.

enhanced physical traits — Uses her telekinesis to enhance her speed, strength and fighting skills into super-human levels.

Empathic Absorption — She is capable of absorbing things from others through an empathic route, therefore it can be done without touch. She feels the emotions of those around her psionically, and is capable of absorbing them and other things through the same way.

emotion negation — She is capable of stealing the emotions of others which renders them emotionally numb for a short time. She feels the emotions she absorbs but is capable of subduing them with ease thanks to her telepathy. In some respects, it's like she expunges the person of their emotions. Jasmine can also take her own negative emotions and inflict them on someone else in order to cleanse herself if necessary.

empathic healing — She can absorb the pain and injuries of others, be it emotional, physical or mental anguish, into her own body. Due to the nature of how she took this ability, she has "rewired it" to let her to recover from something as minor as a cut to severe injuries, even aging, at an accelerated rate. Her abilities allow her to subdue any emotional or mental anguish she may take on, as well. She can even absorb diseases and infections from others that her body then heals in herself.

memory absorption — An off-set of absorbing the emotions or injuries of others, she is capable of taking in the memories of others. This allows her to know all they know, including various skills and the like, though they are instantly subdued due to her empathic abilities. With her telepathy, she is able to pick and choose what she wants and set free the rest instead of internalizing it.

soul absorption — It is what it is, and it's something she can do to anyone even if they possess telepathic immunity, because in this instance she is taking everything at once including that aspect into herself. All they were would then exist within her. Their memories, skills, knowledge, and secrets and of course their powers and abilities. She can then destroy them or put them into another body, whatever she wishes.

Father Zha — Deceased.
Mother Zha — Disabled, living at home with Jazz.
Arden Lin — Cousin. Jazz is leery of her, but plays it off quite well. Given their backgrounds, it can't really be helped! On the surface, they get along fabulously. Otherwise it can seem a little tense.

best friend

Lani — They met in boarding school in Wales, and have been practically inseparable. There's no lady she holds in higher esteem than Lani. She often teases her about her acting, saying she sold out of the modeling business by taking it up. Honestly though, she thinks she's fantastic at it. There's no one she trusts more, and feels she is a kindred spirit. Had it not been for her, she would be dead now.

industry friendships

Bae — Bae is a friendly sort. He's photographed her in the past and she always likes working with him when she can.
Gaspare — Someone she came to know through the modeling industry. If anyone can put up with womanizing tendencies, it's Jazz. She gets a kick out of him.
Sher — One of her photographers, and she thinks he's quite nice. She's so glad he's all right.
Shira — A lovely lady she has had the opportunity to work with on more than one occasion. Jazz simply thinks the world of her and wouldn't mind becoming better friends with her. Enjoyed working with her for the last runway show.

friendships

Ah Nuo — The friendly 'pops' of F4. She thinks he's a polite, handsome fellow and regrets not having met him sooner. She will be remedying this in the future though.
Bea — Nice girl that had some trouble with her abilities for a short term. Though not usually in Jazz' repertoire of friends, she really enjoys her presence and thinks of her as an equal to fight along side when shit hits the fan.
Daniel — Not someone she spoke to regularly outside of the times she dated Ah Feng, but he was always a nice guy. She warned him about his parents, but time was not on her side. She's opted to keep an eye on him in the future.
Dette — She met her in Japan, and enjoyed her personality considerably. Though Jazz is very busy, she tries to keep in touch. Likes her loads. Was pleased to see her again and catch up at the Lee Hyori Charity Games!
Faith — A lady she met while modeling in Rome. She was friendly enough and quiet enough to take Jazz' interest and she become something of a friend over time.
Jacob — |Ria's best friend. She met him through her, naturally. Thinks he's a wonderful individual and is entirely unphased by his attitude.
Melody — Ah Feng's little sister. She's a lovely girl.
Little Wen — Such a darling child. He made her awesome weapons, and she bests him at video games. He's a wonderful child.
Vincent — Like Melody, she doesn't know him too well outside of the times she met him when visiting Feng's family occasionally. He does seem endearingly shy.
Yu-jie — Not as bad as what she thought she might be, which was refreshing. Jazz took her to her quite well and plotted to model with her some time. Thinks she's a sweet girl. Even went as far as offering herself as a listening ear, which is saying a lot.
Yuuta — Her drinking buddy. Whenever she's in his area, she pops in to kick back a few rounds with him. She could care less what he does in his free time, 'cause he makes good company. His business isn't her business.

ex-lovers

Ah Feng — One of her ex-boyfriends, and probably the only one she's still on good terms with mutually. He's awesome in the sack. Big fan of his music. He's her favorite singer! Despite his marriage, she has remained close friends with him and respects his decision. Definitely highly values his friendship.
Choon-Hee — Quite a sexy lady and adorably nice to boot. Jazz was instantly taken with her. She had a grand ol' time with her. Thinks quite highly of her as a person, too. Always tries to help her develop her abilities and understand them a bit more.
Tony — She'll never tell you if she slept with him, but she totally did.
Tad Caldwell — A British playboy. He's filthy rich and a fellow model, as well as an accomplished photographer. He owned his own company, though he has been unheard of since the outbreak. He was her gateway into the industry, and she might have used him. He toned down his tendencies for her, and she ended up breaking up with him when she thought he was genuinely falling for her. Might feel a bit guilty for this, but you'll never know. He wasn't always the nicest guy anyway, and she always hated that he almost always called her Xiang.

acquaintances

Anne-Marie Feroulet — Briefly met her once or twice through her father when he was still around. As he was an ambassador, she was privy to his social circles when she wasn't in school.
Lin — Lin being the nickname she's going to inevitably give her, she met her on the community. Offered to be her her friend in Hong Kong, because it seemed like she could really use one. The gal likes the same games as her, so she's smashing!
Mayu — Someone who can see the future like herself. She seemed like a nice girl and Jazz has every intention to keep tabs on her now.
Shimizu — He has an intriguing way of talking. He may be strange, but she wasn't phased by it. She'll talk to him again.

missing/deceased

Dahlia Regent — A girl she was thought to usurp as one of the most popular models, and more or less succeeded when she dropped out of the scene. Not too crazy about her, which shows by the sickeningly sweet smile and subtle barbs they fling at each other. Doesn't miss her in the least. Missing.
Dante — One of the few who doesn't have a nickname from her on account of her liking their first name that much. It was years ago that she met him and took him as a sleeping partner for quite some time. She was always laid back enough not to mind whenever he got personal with her, and even more easygoing when they opted to be simply friends. Missing.
Leo — Nice Londoner who promised to show her around London when she visits. Cute as a whip, he is. Missing.
Qi-Liu — An art-loving professor she came to know when paying a visit to the high school he teaches at. She enjoys him as a person, especially his sense of humor. Calls him "Qi-Liu" for short (spoken "Chee-Lou"), as she gives everyone she's fond of a nickname o'course! Missing.
Raf — Fellow model, made friends by way of the business. Thinks he's awesome. Missing.
