History

The beginning of her life could be considered part of a bad soap opera. The one where a child is taken from the hospital it was born in merely hours after being born? Faith became the principal character in such a bad plot. It took her a long time until someone bothered to explain to her the truth about that matter and still, the explanation was even more complicated to the child she had been then. The woman who had taken her wasn't, as one would think, unable to have children. She was simply unable to take care of them properly, her mental capabilities far too frail to manage not to forget to feed her own, clean them, give them the attention a child needed. But she loved them, her own and the girl she had taken home. It was to the unknown brother, few years older than her, that she owed living through those years. What little he had, he divided with the new child sharing his quarters, what little he could give, either in affection or attention, he attempted to do so. Through her childhood, Faith often heard him speak the words she would have expected their wayward mother to speak, when she became so lost in her own world. Leaving for days, sometimes weeks at a time, he was her companion, the strongest presence in her life. The one she would thank much more than words could express. Life, the value of a family, the need of support, even the name she carried.

Faith wasn't sure when she began working. Truly, it was simply something she had expected. There were men and women with enough lack of values to use children as tools and, both her and James learned that easily. Still, they didn't complain. They worked, earned their pay and returned home, where their mother might be waiting. When she did, it was almost as if they were a real family, warm and caring as in any house of the neighborhood.

Years passed, little changed. James took the control of the house just as Faith always thought it would happen. Their mother took a step back on their education – not an incredibly huge change – and the house remained in their care. It became needed to hide her condition, take care of the economical details, the medicine that eventually became needed. Schooling became a sideshow, stolen hours between work and looking after their mother. Neither of them thought to neglect either task. They were doing well enough by themselves, no help required by the ones outside their circle. Nothing would have changed had she not grown to look as she did.

Without her knowledge, her blood family had searched for the baby taken from its crib so long before. And, as a sixteen year old, her appearance was too close to her biological mother to be ignored. Fate decided that she was seen by a family friend, a friend who made sure to memorize where the girl was walking to, the few places where she still dared to walk alone. Two weeks was all it took for her door to receive visitors, unknown man and women who stared at her like she was a long lost treasure. She would hear none of it, none of their words, their pleads to come with them and meet those who wished to know if she was the one. Her brother was a different matter. James was the one to push her forward, to make her do the exams she dreaded so much. And she did so, what could she do? Even though she wished to ignore it, she knew what her brother was thinking. That life was hard and yes, he wanted to protect her.

When the DNA results showed and her blood proved her to belong to the Summerlands, Faith let it be known that her brother and her were a joint package. Their mother, the one who had looked after even in her condition, wasn't persecuted for the same reason, being placed in proper care instead. She knew it was the best option. Neither her or James could look at her in the way she truly needed. Even so, it was hard to see as the woman was taken away to the hospital where she would stay until she recovered but a little. Herself was pushed into schooling, James into work. To make sure they remained independent, paying the debt they now owned to those people who were her supposed to be her family, they did what was asked of them, worked as hard as needed but made sure to keep their connections opened.

The only negative answer the Summerland family heard from her was referred to an arranged marriage in which she wouldn't take place. And that was enough to make them understand that there was a point where the girl wouldn't be pushed. Six years after meeting her family, she had managed to catch up enough in her studies to take a place by her side, running their business as expected of the eldest child. The outbreak, however, changed everything yet again. One of her new sisters was lost to the event, something her parents didn't seem to cope well with. She watched without commenting as her father found a mistress, as the divorced was made and she was left with, yet another, grieving mother. Her choice was obvious in this matter. While she remained by her father's side in the company, she left to live with her mother without a second thought. Strong as she was, Faith knew she would break without presence. James and herself remained by her side as they had once remained with their "true" mother. To her father and his new companion, little attention was given since then.

Personality

The first image one can see of her is of a simple, quiet girl. A first impression, one which tends to fade soon enough as soon as she moves to act or speak. In many ways, Faith's personality is hard to characterize, often ageless simply due to its inconsistency. Traits of older age can be felt just as she jokes, trails of hidden meaning behind her more insignificant words. She has learned a lot through her life, seen enough cruelty and sorrow, the horror her own kin bring, far worse than anything the outbreak could manage. Despite all of this, she merely learned how not to act. How to better herself and find a balance.

All in all, she is just tough. She displays her emotions without thinking, with no facades nor lies. If hurt she'll rise again, if lost there will be a thread of hope to hold on and keep going. It's just the way she chose to live her life. Harsh and rough when the situation calls her to be so, gentle and welcoming as opposite if needed. A person without falsities, all in all, worries and concerns dealt with at a proper date just as quickly as a smile will be shown. In her belief, there is little reason not to cherish the small gifts in life she's given. When confronted with problems, Faith shows herself to be extremely determined, carrying an almost inflexible notion of honor, right and wrong. It allows her to evolve very slowly, truth, and some might not accept that trait easily. In a way, it doesn't allow her to take her time to think things through, especially when lives are on line, people whom she might know or not, it matters little. While her values may be bent at times, for what she considers to be the greater good, she strives to take the best possible path in the situation.

Her attachments aren't hard to achieve, as long as someone strays from hiding overly much. Once that takes place, little will make her stray from that person for good or bad. She's a follower and adviser, trusting others will do the right thing, if her words are heard just a little. Her life, her possessions, most things fall to the background when it comes to look after the people she cares for. If they fall around her, it's a fact she'll do her best to correct the situation to the last consequences. Like many others since the outbreak, she lives her life day-by-day but always has done so. Projects can fall on the coming day and there is no need to morn what couldn't be achieved. The then and now matter far more to her.

Powers

  • Weapon formation ;; capability to alter whatever part of her body into whatever weapon she desires. The weapon works exactly as it would act if real and on someone's hold, answering to her command like any of her limbs would.
  • Channel ;; capability to absorb environmental energy and convert it into bio-energy. This energy can be used for a wide range of smaller abilities.
energy emission - emission of that energy as an explosive attack.
healing - enhancing her own healing abilities or of others.
detection - ability to detect other forms around her through the detection of that being's energy.
enhancing of physical abilities
  • Mind Control ;; ability to control another's mind, controlling both actions and thoughts. Capability to implant suggestions, control other's powers and act through the being. The degree of consciousness of the being is up to her.

Relationships

Family

  • James Tanggard ;; Adoptive brother. He is probably the most important person in her life and, definitely, the one she looks up to the most. It's very hard for her to find faults in him simply because he doesn't allow himself to show those near her.
  • Elizabeth Tanggard ;; Adoptive mother. Despite everything, Faith loves her as any daughter would.
  • Melissa Summerland ;; biological mother. This woman slowly made her way into her child's heart. The fact that she never stopped searching for her is appreciated.
  • Robbert Summerland ;; biological father. While he is a good man, his actions were severely disliked. Currently not in so good terms.
  • Julia, Victoria and Paul ;; biological siblings. Victoria was the only one to perish due to the outbreak.

Friendships

  • Jazz ;; a nice woman she met a few years back. Never would she believe models were actually nice before her. Someone Faith would definitely call a friend.
  • KB ;; he helped her out of a tough spot and she'll never forget that debt. With time, she came to enjoy his quiet way of living and his kind of silent acceptance.
  • Niav Orlos ;; a girl she met during the Outbreak. In personality, she seems very easy to get along. Quiet and yet, she has something that draws people to her.
  • Etienne ;; yet another acquaintance done through her family's connections. He's also a nice guy, almost too nice.
  • Reza ;; first met through her family and then ended up as her brother's girlfriend. She wouldn't have minded to have her as sister-in-law, or closest thing to her, simply because Faith liked her. When they parted, the friendship between them remained.
