In Depth

If Jade had his way, his first words would have been "that's right, bitch, now kneel before me and worship the grounds I walk on," and his last words would be "Hey, look what I can do!". Jade, by nature, has an honest, although blunt and tactless way of speaking which could be taken for being invasive and rude on his part. But for Jade, social walls are barriers which were meant to be broken, and Jade would gladly take out the mother of all bombs and obliterate any obstacle which blocks the way into making more friends... or enemies. Outspoken and opinionative, Jade usually without much thought and without much care of who he offends. But if does offend, an apology may follow if he's feeling generous. If not, it usually means that he feels that the person in question should lighten up. Also quite arrogant and egotistical, Jade's one to strut around- the posturing is annoying to a fair group of people, but it's just Jade making sure that he’s noticed.

Since Jade grew up on the stage, he enjoys being the center of attention. A born entertainer, Jade has this apparent knack of livening up the crowd by sheer personality alone and more so with an act and a vocal range spanning from an F2 to a G5, which has a little more than doubled since the outbreak. Often found in the role of an emotional hero, a wisecracking comic, or even a dogmatic villain, Jade knows how to play the part to the hilt. To this day, Jade knew that a career in entertainment was set aside for him- his aspiration to be a stage-actor-singer was something nothing would ever shatter for him.

The latter half of 2009 left him with a few scars, however, and although he still bears some memories he believes are best left forgotten, Jade proves to be one resilient individual.

History

The Life Before...

Born in the tropical north of Australia, Jade spent his childhood surfing the golden beaches and running through the sugarcane fields of Cairns. Although born to a lower-middle class family, Jade still considered running around, taking a dip in the waterholes and rivers, and scouring the rainforests as his sort of fun. And of course there was his love of musicals. At a young age, Jade took an interest in singing and acting before he eventually settled to pursue the career of being a stage actor. Having completed high school in one of Cairns' state schools, Jade then sought his fortunes in Sydney, after having moved out on his own and decided to board on campus.

Majoring in a combined degree of Theatre and Music, Jade was engrossed in his studies, tutorials, and practices. Sydney was rather fast-paced even for his fast-talking inclinations and by the end of the day, Jade was usually out tired and resting. In many local theatre productions outside of the university life, Jade participated in a fair few. Jade played the roles of Roger Davies in RENT and Tony in West Side Story, as well as other leading or at least prominent characters like Fiyero in Wicked, Nathan Detroit in Guys and Dolls, and the Beast in Beauty and the Beast, the last having to adjust his tenor to suit the baritone requirements of the character. Perhaps one of Jade's favourite characters to play the part of was that of Sweeney Todd from the musical of the same name, being able to combine aggression, sadism, and a sense of psychotic insanity into the one role, which made it enjoyable for him.

The Outbreak...

The outbreak happened while he was staying in his home town for his summer break from university, when the airborne virus finally reached his part of the earth. Horror struck everywhere he turned, his friends succumbing to fates as infected, leaving Jade the decision to forever trap them and leave them to disintegrate by themselves- after all, their souls have already departed and what was left were walking corpses. Getting his family out of the area, packed what they could, and narrowly avoiding the grasps of the infected, Jade drove his family to the nearest city they could reach, which they had heard to be the safest place to take refuge. Never stopping, Jade and his gang gathered what they could and stocked up at every gas station, even then it was risky. Now having at last reached their destination, their only goal is to keep alive and try to go about their lives as per normal...

The Disappearing Act of 2009

It was during the month of August that Jade disappeared from the public eye. After he came back from the Korean Concert and met with Bai Hua Mi and friends, Jade was left on his own. As he was walking alone down a deserted street, someone caught him unaware, before he was drugged, bound, and gagged. Jade didn't return home that night. It was several hours before he found himself tied to a chair with his mouth stuffed with a dirty shirt to prevent him from merely shouting his way out. As it turns out, his captor was an old acquaintance by the name of Ethan McCormick. Last he heard of him was that he had been sentenced to jail for drug trafficking, much to Jade’s disgust. Jade had tipped him off to the police after a horrid end to their already shattered friendship and almost endangering the life of one of his friends. How they managed to have even met up, Jade could not remember nor had little clue as to why. As it turns out, this was a little ploy for revenge on Ethan's part, having escaped the prison and stayed one step ahead of the infected. Before Jade could scream for help, much to Ethan's convenience, he had gained the power to disable other superhuman abilities- thereby reducing Jade’s voice to what it was before the outbreak.

"Stupid git made my life a living hell!" Ethan accused Jade as he beat him repeatedly, even at one grim instance brutally raped him at gun-point. Never in his life had Jade felt so low and dirty. Several attempts at escaping left him battered and back to the very start. Ethan enjoyed the very idea of toying with him, letting him live so long as he could see him struggle.

It was in early October that the Revival Force Group members stumbled upon the seemingly empty apartment in the abandoned part of town where Jade was being held. Ethan had been confronted with a few times before but swore he had no contact with Jade before this point. Ethan was immediately arrested and Jade was taken to the hospital. It had taken weeks for Jade to physically heal but mentally, he still needed some time to get over the hell which had went for too long. For months, he kept himself hidden from virtually all forms of contact while he collected the shattered pieces of what he used to be.

Days turned to weeks and Jade felt the quiet times made him grow stronger. The ill-effects of Ethan disabling his voice were slowly wearing off. He had made a few friends while he still kept to himself- one man in particular, by the name of Lionel Velasco managed to keep him smiling. It was late April Jade managed to feel almost like his old self again, ready to put the bad past events down as just a nothing more than a nightmare he would never have to relive again. Vocally still, when it boiled to the abilities he gained during the outbreak, many things he used to do before are skills he’s still unable to use as of right there and then, but Jade knew that eventually, they'll come back...

And Beyond... The Year 2010

• April 30th, 2010: Jade's return to society. Started posting on the online community. Still bears some heavy feelings, but considers himself to be okay.
• May 1st, 2010: Arrived in London, England to attend the opening night of Les Misérables. Jade was bummed that he missed out auditioning.

• May 4th, 2010: Promptly left London to return to Sydney. Modelled for James Dominic Mason.

Jade's vocal range as compared to the basic operatic ranges for Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano, Contralto, Tenor, Baritone, and Bass ranges.

Vocal Manipulation: Jade’s vocal cords have mutated since the outbreak, adding four more octaves to his vocal range, giving him a seven octave range of notes (A0 - A7) which Jade would have to use to execute various tricks. There’s no need to form actual words, just vocables (“Ah”, “La-la”, “Ooh”, etc).

LEGGIERO TENOR – Confound. Jade can confuse his enemies by making them mistake each other for him, proceeding to attack their own kind. Jade needs to keep hitting Tenor C (C5) in order for this to work. Hitting the whistle notes (notes superseding Double High C - C7) makes them extra brutal towards each other. Very useful.
LYRIC TENOR – Hypnosis. Jade can hypnotise his enemies, keeping them still and unable to move until he stops singing. Jade needs to sing a series of notes which have to span at least three octaves to keep subjects entranced.
SPINTO TENOR"Swan Song". This is Jade's natural range, being suited for him originally. It is a powerful, attacking variation of his vocal ability. Violet light embellishes the air and the opponents before him- attacks depend on the variations of the notes.
DRAMATIC TENOR – Repel. A protective outer shell shields Jade from potential harm, and this requires Jade to sing one strong note for as long as he can, or else the barrier disappears. Rarely used due until there is a way for Jade to sustain a note longer than at least a minute. As of now, Jade usually belts one strong note for the barrier to appear then taking a breath before holding another strong note- in this case, Jade would be vulnerable for a second or two.
HELDENTENOR – Energise. Being the lowest tessitura of the tenor range, this focuses Jade's vocal power into into a powerhouse of pure sound energy, his body emitting a purple glow, the region around his voice box being the focal point. This causes targets to disintegrate into dust. It is rarely used due to the amount of dramatic strain Jade would put his voice through, not being naturally capable of singing Heldentenor roles.
VOCAL ENHANCEMENTS – Not necessarily powers of their own, but these are vocal tricks Jade can use to embellish his attacks as he sings.
RAPID MELISMA - Leggiero, Lyric, and Spinto only. Melisma pertains to a series of notes sung in one syllable- in this case, Jade can rapidly sing notes rendering his target in a state of numb consciousness as opposed to merely being rooted to one spot fully aware. In spite of vocal weight designation, melismas can be performed in all classifications, but the trick only works with Lyric, Leggiero, and Spinto.
RESOUNDING VIBRATO - Spinto, Dramatic or Heldentenor only. The quaver of Jade's voice in stronger vocal weight both sends tremors on the grounds of his noted targets, putting them off balance, as well as unsettling their internal organs- the strength of the Vibrato depends on its depth and speed Jade employs. This vocal technique works for only Spinto, Dramatic, and Heldentenor.
MESSA DI VOCE - All. Messa Di Voce, or what Jade joking calls "Mess the Voice", is a technique that alters only the volume of his voice, and nothing else. It is used to determine the radius around Jade and how far the influence of his voice would go. The louder his voice, the more grounds his vocals cover.
MONEY NOTE - All. Named for the phenom associated with the most memorable notes in popular songs, causing people to take notice- this case, his targets. This is used for distraction before his targets are subjected to a illusional blinding flash, rendering them temporarily unable to see. Money Notes in songs are few, which leaves Jade to sing one contrasting note with a series of others to come close to definition.
WHISTLE NOTE - Leggiero only. Whistle Notes are notes that go beyond Double High C. But when Jade's singing voice is in this range, it lacks any human colour, making him sound almost mechanically high-pitched. This drives his targets to the brink of insanity.
COLORATURA - Lyric only. The florid and elaborate style of singing characterised by runs and trills. The Coloratura as a component of Jade's Lyric singing confuses the targeted infected- even so to the point where they could even lose their sense of self and become aimless and lose their urge to harm.
BELTER - Dramatic only. Vocal Belting releases a flash of energy from the force field Jade creates while he's singing Dramatic Tenor- the sound waves from belting out large notes force his opponents farther away from him, dealing a certain amount of damage to them.
BANSHEE SCREAM - All. Named after the Irish mythical creature, wails known for causing death. Not associated with singing, but Jade's screaming unsettles those around him before summoning ghostly figures to wreak havoc around the premises for a while.
DEATH GROWL - All. Popular in death metal genres of music, Jade's Death Growl renders his targets close to feeling its own death, although the trick is merely a play on the mind as opposed to actually dealing physical damage.
KEY CHANGE - All. Not exactly a major feature but a term in which Jade switches among any of the five vocal weights- Leggiero, Lyric, Spinto, Dramatic, and Heldentenor. It's indicated by an automatic flash of purple light which momentarily circulates around Jade's throat while his voicebox glows, before it disappears.
POWER TRIO - All. Usually done in combination with Tally and Sam, but this can also be executed with two other singers. Adding harmony to Jade's voice enhances all his abilities, usually Tally taking the baritone vocals while Sam employs his higher vocal register as a countertenor.
ALL STAR PERFORMANCE - All. Not an attacking or tactical move but an elaborate light display while Jade sings in his comfort, toggling this function on or off should he ever please. This is more for enhancing performances.

Relationships

Familial

• Ray Sinclair: NPC. Alive. Jade's father. Escaped with him to Sydney.
• Katrina Sinclair: NPC. Alive. Jade's mother. She escaped with him to find refuge in Sydney.
• Kylie Sinclair: NPC. Alive. Jade's little sister. She's a rabid fan of C-pop, J-pop, and Eastern pop culture. She is safer in Sydney than she was up north.
• Tally Carter: NPC. Jade's best friend. An aboriginal boy his age who escaped with him to Sydney with his mother. Tally is most known for singing the lower harmonies to Jade's lead vocals. As a lead, Tally always takes on soulful ballads, while Jade does the lower harmonies instead.
• Sam Harvey: NPC. Jade's best friend. He came with Jade and his family- he was orphaned after the outbreak killed his family. The Sinclairs practically adopted him since then. Sam always sings the higher harmonies to Jade's leading vocals- in the rare occasion he does sing lead, he takes dance songs- Jade replaces him on higher harmonies.

Friends

Vespertine Carnahan-Kingsley: NPC. An accomplished opera singer Jade met while ago. Jade both greatly admires and somewhat envies Vespertine for her strength in her voice. Jade had quoted that Vespertine's voice was vivid and dramatic enough "to give him goosebumps". Nonetheless, the two of them had forged a strong friendship due to their similar interests and their love of performance singing and acting.
Sky Chwa: Having met face to face finally at the Lee Hyori Charity Games, this boy is a boundless ball of energy. Jade adores him because that hyperactive spark and playfulness won him over hook, line, and sinker. And he's not afraid to hug and glomp- to which Jade reciprocates with equal 'oomph'! They spent the time hanging around and getting to know each other, chucking the occasional sex joke or two. The admiration gets to the point where Jade wants to take him home and show him to his mum and dad.
• Jillian Howard: NPC. A friend Jade had met up with during his stay in Sydney after bumping into her on the online community. He, despite his relatively short attention span to new acquaintances, began to accept her as a good friend and close associate amidst the post-apocalyptic ruins of Sydney.
Alexei Vladimirovich Ilyin: NPC. A young man who took Jade in as an exchange student while he was in Russia for three months. Jade's initial intention was to seduce him, but found Alexei had such a gentle and kind personality that he couldn't bring himself to take advantage of the man. Instead, Jade found him to be very pleasant company and a good man to joke around with- the flirting still remains, but as a means of simply being friendly. Jade couldn't recognise him on the network since it had been long.
Choon-Hee "Hyori" Jeong: Jade has this sort of luck with big names from the East, and Jade managed to snag a brief brush with Hyori during the Games in Seoul she hosted. Being the woman of the day, since it was her birthday, Jade offered to assist her with her cheering every now and then whenever they bump into each other again on that day. She's funny, awesome company, and it's no wonder why she's popular- it's charisma!
Min-ki Kang: Jade considers him to be a nice guy in which he finds amusement in talking with him, whether it would be playfully competing against each other for Alexei's affections or chuckling over anything else that strikes their fancy.
Sidney Lung: A brief stint with the law which Jade claims that he was innocent of landed him some community service at the orphanage Sidney Lung was running. Jade wasn't allowed to work with the children, so instead was under Sidney's charge. Jade remains oblivious about Sidney's past with the Triad, which he has no idea of his existence, but the bruises gave him the impression of tough times. So, Jade does his very best to be a chipper ray of sunshine in spite of it. Even if she does stay dour and stoic, it doesn't stop Jade from trying to lighten the atmosphere for an easier time.
James Mason: An accomplished artist living in the same Sydney area as Jade is. He has a very professional approach towards his work and a sort of presence which makes Jade think twice of what he's about to say. Jade got to strip down in the nude and pose to be a subject in one of James' project, which Jade is both rather proud of as well as a little embarrassed. He's sure to peg his friends in James direction should they need an artist taking on comissions.
Bai Hua "Vivian" Mi: Initially, Jade had thought this girl to be a stranger, but it had turned out that they had bumped into each other whilst during the A Midsummer Night's Dream Production event in London. Jade found Vivian to be quite the spirited and pleasant personality he liked to joke and talk with. She was even kind enough to nudge Vic his way to help with the environmental problems Australia was facing after the worldwide natural disaster. For that, Jade owes them more than what he could ever own. He is sure to keep in contact with her.
Feng Nuo "Vanness" Shi: Jade met this guy a couple of times before, but it was only recently during the Lee Hyori Charity Games that they finally managed to hit it off- previous times, one or the other had to be off elsewhere and the meetings were fairly brief. Jade cheered for him during the events he participated in. Jade also concludes he's very strong- he almost crushed Jade's hand in a friendly handshake. He'll be hearing from him again.
Duck-hwa "DUCK!!" Shin: Jade would say his name over and over again if only because Jade likes how it sounds- he'd kill to have a name like that. They met at Tablo's Outbreak Asia Concert backstage and found him to be awesome company. A personality like Duck's is awesome in Jade's book and he took to the younger singer pretty fast. Jade would be sure to keep in contact with him in the future, although he feels guilty for not having contacted him since the concert- he blames Ethan.
Ekaterina "Katya" Ivanovna Tarasova: Jade met her while he was on exchange in Russia. Both share similar enough interests to hit it off as being friends, and both were extroverted enough to break out of their comfort zones- Katya more so than Jade. It's been a while since they last talked to each other and Jade's knowledge of Russian has plummeted quite a bit since then. He hopes she's still all right, but remembering her, he knows she will be.
Jun "Vic" Teng: Jade met Jun online, the talk of being contacted by the Revival Project being the initial point of conversation before it spiraled into Kylie, Jade's teenage sister, taking over the laptop and having a one on one conversation with one of her idols. Jade's not sure what to make of the situation, but he hopes that his sister's shameless interruption didn't embarrass him in front of the celebrity. Kylie made Jade accept the invite from the Project so she could come along with him to meet F4. Jade had kept in contact with Jun on and off- out of respect, Jade didn't want to pester the guy in fear that his sister may try to harrass him again.
• Lionel Velasco: NPC. A kind young man whom Jade met while he was still recovering- Lionel was one of therapists who helped Jade recovery, and something akin to friendship blossomed between the two of them initially. It's these days now that Jade looks to Lionel as if he was an older brother he never had in some ways.
Liam Ward: A new friend Jade bumped into on the internet via sex survey, much to amusement on his side. Jade found him friendly enough to keep on nattering about anything that pops into mind which is a really good start in his opinion. Jade's sure to be keeping tabs on this guy for any further chit-chat. He has his fingers crossed!

Acquaintances

Shira Adams: A young woman he met through the same sex questionaire, Jade considers Shira genial and pleasant company, even if for the first few lines of conversing with other. Being newly acquainted, Jade obviously has very little idea about her, other than she's quite honest and upfront combined with supermodel good looks, but he's very much open for the idea of friendship.
Benjamin "Brandon Boyd" Campbell: Jade is a fan and found his voice something like sex for the ears. Once Jade knew he was on the community, Jade was on the verge of spazzing out and making like his sister. Would be sure to keep a close watch on any time the singer of Incubus would post and possibly try for a friendship, which would be totally awesome in Jade's deepest of opinions.
Victoria Johnson: Jade knew her off a breakfast news show, because his parents watch it every day. Before Jade was abducted, he managed to bump into her on the street and the two got to talking, since Jade had to open his mouth and blurt out something rather humiliating, which Victoria pointed out. Since Jade got back, he wondered where she went off to. Jade likes her accent.
Ingrid Odegaard: NPC. An intimidating woman whom Jade had made his first contact with at the London play- by spilling his can of Sprite onto her by sheer accident. She called him a clod and gave him a death glare of a life time, and Jade apologised profusely for his being clumsy. But other than that, things calmed down and Jade thought she wasn't too mean. After all, it was just Sprite. Jade's sure to watch where he'd be stepping next time around, though.
Hyun Yoon Park: No kid four years younger than Jade should have rock-hard abs and a killer pretty face like that. They met at the time of the Outbreak Concert in Seoul, and Jade hit on him before vehemently taking back his words when he found out Hyun was both straight and too young for his liking. But Jade hopes that he didn't take that too bad and retains a friends only contact with him.
Dae Seung: A Korean model-student Jade was instantly fond of, initially attracted to him because of his good looks, but he was also friendly, easy to talk to, and had amusing way of communicating.
Yong Moon Shin: Seoul, South Korea, Jade went clubbing with Sky on the night after the Lee Hyori Charity Games. Yong Moon caught his attention when they bumped into each other on the dance floor, Jade got all starry-eyed because one, Yong's pretty; two, Yong's tall; and three, Yong smelt good. So, Jade tried flirting with him a bit, then got a bit embarrassed, and somehow as soon as Jade felt even a friendly pat on the back by Yong, Jade backed down a bit. Self-conscious of messing up, Jade fled back into the crowd and hid.
Dimitry Sergeyevich Solovyov: Jade has the most trouble pronouncing his full name than any other. Jade met Dimitry through Katya whilst on exchange, and Jade thought Dimitry was friendly enough to be considered one of the better acquaintances, even though it hadn't been too long of a stay in chilly Russia. Jade thinks his accents is all kinds of awesome.
Kyung Sang-Ki Yeoun: One of the participants in the Outbreak Concert in Seoul. Jade so happened to meet him backstage and congratulate him on a performance well done. But the friendly contact was marred by a wrong step when Jade hit on Dae Seung, which Jade did not know was Kyung's boyfriend. Kyung socked Jade in the eye for that, to which Jade had apologise on the accounts that he had little idea. Jade shouted them both drinks just to make it up for it, so they're on friendly terms. Luckily, Jade's thick-skinned.
Mikhail Borisovich Zvonov: NPC. Jade finds his name hard to pronounce. Although he finds him a little stiff, Jade thinks he makes for great company and would possibly try and flirt with him at any time. Sometimes, Jade thinks the Russian is either seems oblivious or tends to ignore his flirtations.

Antagonistic

• Ethan McCormick: NPC. Former friend and criminal who Jade promptly cut out of his life after almost killing Sam Harvey. In mid assault on Sam as well, Jade tipped the police and eventually Ethan was found guilty of drug trafficking soon after. Ethan's a bit unstable and he shows little remorse for his past deeds. This is by far the worst person in this group here.
Miu Ishida: Annoys at any cost, because Jade found much amusement in riling her up a bit. He thinks that she should lighten up a bit and learn to take a joke or two, but, oh well- her loss. Jade would keep an eye on her if he's in the mood for some heated cussing.
Tristan Thadius Lancaster: NPC. Someone Jade found amusing to toy with- Jade felt no hard feelings for him, believing his sort to be only natural for the internet. He's an interesting person to pester, even if he seemed very angry, but Jade feels deep down that he's just venting, and nothing more. Doesn't take him seriously. Jade hasn't bumped into him recently- he has been wondering why.
Ming-Hao Nan: A boy his age Jade met while he was in his final year of high school, 2004. Jade was rehearsing with his group for a short, end-of-year play for school and Ming so happened to stumble in. The two got off on the wrong foot when Ming said something to bruise Jade's ego back then, spiralling into a heated argument with each other. The contact was brief, but was one of the easiest memories to recollect, Jade being still new to the singer-actor industry at that time.

Missing/Deceased

Crane Adams: Deceased. Although a little apprehensive about the man at first, masking it successfully with his cheerful bravado, Jade decided Crane was one person to look out for and pester on occasion in his own friendly way. He reminds him of his teachers in the way of maturity and patience, but Crane has something of a friendly and kind-hearted nature that keeps Jade from creating actual mischief for him. Jade heard about Crane's death and was saddened, even though they only spoke once or twice, although Jade hides the hurt.
Guy Cockcroft: Missing. Jade found him to be very amusing and funny, being able to understand the things he types down and manages to type down the same back. Jade seemed to have dug himself into a dilemma- what started out as some fun turned into something that struck his heart strings and he felt in a way sorry for what the guy went through. Replying in Guy's sort of style seemed fake now.
Ana Klien: Missing. Met by way of the community online, Jade thought to hit her up with his reply, which eventually snowballed into flirting and talks of music and piercings. She's located in the London, England area, which Jade has a fair know how of to get around. Extroverted girls are awesome, in Jade's opinion, and especially if they can take his jokes with equal cheer. Definitely one to visit when he goes to London.
Alexander Sunderland: Missing. Amusing girl which Jade can laugh over killing zombies with. He doesn't mind being 'the jukebox' for her whenever the occasion arises to kill the infected- at least they are both having a laugh whilst at the same time, keeping safe. As Jade puts it, he think she's 'the most awesome girl' he had come in contact with so far since the outbreak.
