back-story
Dae's birth parents passed away when he was only an infant, hardly a month old, and he was taken in by close friends of the family. They were not well off, however, and found themselves put out by taking on the child who needed more than they could give. Growing up he was forced to work more than concentrate on education, taking many days off to assist his father in various jobs to assure enough money for survival. This forced him to study on his own even more to strive through the education system and become a decent enough student while in attendance to graduate each year.
While in middle school he was approached by a group of suited men and asked various questions, eventually offered a decent paying job as a part-time model. Quickly taking up the offer to do anything that would assist in paying back the people he knew was family he yet again found himself concentrating on something more than education, landing various run-way jobs due to his build and magazine ad's and garnering enough income to support his family full time.
Life as a model was never easy, and through it all Dae had several up and down moments. There were of course times he wanted to quit, but the thought of his parents having to work themselves to the bone once more kept him going through the good and the bad. He met several people through his occupation, some he'd rather forget and others he'd never even speak to people about. While he never really let it become public knowledge, he fell into the wrong crowd several times over without even knowing what was actually going on.
He never thought of modeling as a permanent career, however. Dae always had the notion that, as soon as he could, he was going to quit and live a life more suitable for him. He might not have been completely opposed to the limelight, but he certainly wasn't going to be someone who was going to continue living a life he felt was such a lie. So many fake smiles and awkward photo shoots later, Dae made sure to apply to and enter college. He dropped his modeling schedule down, against all wishes from his agency and management company, but for once started to go off on his own path instead.
In school he began to try to flesh himself out, taking various courses to decide what it was he wanted to do. While there were basic positions, and sure-fire occupations he could try to aim for, Dae never really saw himself being able to actually do most of them. Sitting at a desk, working at some firm, all of it was too routine for someone who had become so used to a different fabric of life. He was completely lost on where to go and what to do, until he found himself immersed in a music course and drama course at the same time.
They seemed to click with him more than anything else. The arts were so different, but somehow they made perfect sense to him. He could release his creativity, could learn to branch himself out as a person in such different ways, that Dae knew in that one semester what it was he was going to major in and do for the rest of his life. He studied as much as he could in both fields, from music theory to various instruments to signing himself up to as many plays and dramatic pieces as he could, his parents supporting him all the way. Modeling started to take a backseat to his own wishes for a time.
When the outbreak occurred he found himself surrounded by people changing quickly, his own abilities coming to be without his awareness. The closest things to parents he had changed into infected, lunging after him as his powers quickly changed his body into a tough gold material. Scared and confused his body sprouted wings as he flew away as far as he could, crashing into the water only to find himself with gills and fins to swim through the waters easily. Eventually, he made it to Tokyo and set up a home by himself. He made some friends, but nothing ever seemed right until he was able to return to Seoul.
Now, with things back on track, Dae has found himself running back to the job he thought he'd be leaving. It's comfortable, and in a world where nothing is certain, he's much more comfortable staying in a field he knows he has a definite in — for now. His studies are lacking, and he's going slowly back toward finishing up what he wanted, but he's content enough to be alive and with good friends, family and a love.

personality
Usually, Dae is the type of person everyone simply lets sit in the corner. He's timid around others, and shy by nature, but there is a quiet confidence about him as well. His time as a model has forced him to deal with, to some degree, most of his social issues that he would have otherwise — but it has by no means made him anymore personable upon first impression. To most he's short with words, quick with conversations, and actually pretty cold-shouldered. It isn't that he dislikes the world or people in particular, he only finds it hard to trust people too quickly.
When he doesn't come to trust someone, Dae can keep up his colder than most words and image. He doesn't like it when people put others down, and while he can take any damage sent his way, he doesn't readily stand for someone assaulting others or their views and opinions. Crossing someone he cares about just once gets you an instant pass to his shit list, and being on that usually gets heavily sarcasm laced words and thoughts of more unkind actions. Most people don't expect Dae to ever be a physically offensive or threatening person, but he is not a total pacifist — especially when it comes to his loved ones.
Once Dae begins to actually open up to others, it's a whole new ballgame. He's free with who he is, and will love someone before he even gets to know them too well. It's gotten him in trouble before, more trouble than he ever wanted or cared for, but he's begun to try and level himself out more. With the consistency of people around him he learns to adapt, develop, and grow more into the type of person he might have been meant to become. When left to his own devices he's lost more often than not, and definitely has some minor attachment issues because of it.
His humor is off-beat, mostly counted and grown into such a thing because of his inability to voice his thoughts with proper reason. A conflict of inner-voice and a need to respect and put everyone above him has lead to the awkward tongue he is equipped with. Dae has no problems with making people uncomfortable, and most times he won't even really pick up on it when he might say something that can be completely misconstrued. He isn't easily annoyed at it, however, and has learned to simply go with whatever it is people start to think of him. He has enough shreds of a real identity to him that he can simply let himself be a specter for their own reflections — he only is what he feels others want to see, for the most part.
While he's gotten much better at not letting people manipulate him, it doesn't mean that he isn't occasionally still far too gullible for the casual person. He has his own independent thought, though even that is based off the thoughts he imagines others would want from him, which makes it hard for him to simply fend off things or urges quickly. He can act without thinking, just doing what he feels is right instead of what he might think was right. It's all a big jumble and mixed bag in his mind, and depending on the day of the week he'll usually be a different flavor of persona than the one you got last.
☯ What He's Got
danger detection — The innate ability to detect the danger within, or that can sprout from, any given situation. It is, in a way, the ability to see the projected paths of causality into their conclusion, though only those that would result in harmful conclusions. Dae cannot actively manipulate this ability, and it will only give him the knowledge of coming danger and events when such things are coming. He can have up to a days warning when it is an event larger than effecting his own person — such as the worldwide disaster day. Otherwise, he tends to only receive warnings moments before danger actually hits. He can ignore this sense most of the time, seeing as even walking outside can still prove dangerous when infected are around, but at times it causes his body to react without his will. His reality warping may effect this ability in the sense that should Dae truly feel in danger - from a phobia or simply being scared of something - his body reacts as if there is true pertinent danger coming his way.
reality warping metamorph — The ability to morph his physical realm and reality in any given situation. Dae is capable of consciously developing any ability he can conjure up in his mind. As long as Dae can imagine an ability that he finds necessary in the moment his body warps itself to develop it, though it is a rare occurrence when his physical form actually changes. While the abilities, if necessary, could develop into permanent abilities instead of temporary, Dae tends to find that unnecessary and lets them go as he pleases. This means that, naturally, Dae has no real ability when under the surveillance of others. Once he is utilizing this ability, however, those with the ability to view genetic codes and make up can see the unique make-up of his that way. In tandem with his danger detection, Dae can develop any ability in a dangerous moment that would help keep not only himself but those around him safe — he may also choose to make this ability one that would only cancel out the danger and not kill any, even the infected. He can physically alter himself, from growing armor and wings or gills, to developing only abilities like superhuman speed or transmutation abilities. From displacement and teleporation to manipulation of the elements and biological creatures, what he finds needed at any moment is at his disposal. The more abilities Dae tries to juggle at once, and the longer he tries to keep them going, the more wear it has on his person — naturally, Dae can only go for a maximum of six or seven hours before he physically feels weak and tired.

adoptive family
Hwong Seung — Pa ; Someone he wanted to always make proud and worked hard to do so. While he was infected for a time, Dae was able to bring him back into his life. Currently working in the crop developments within Seoul.
Choi Seung — Ma ; Dae always looked up to her for her kindness, and his accepting of people and their ways comes from her for the most part. She's the gentle word he always needs, and he is forever grateful to her and Hwong.
Xue Zheng — Zheng Ma ; This woman was kind enough to take Dae in while his own adoptive parents were lost to the infected. She helps him with cooking tips and the like, and for her kindness Dae considers her as close to him as Ma is.
Yanlin Zheng — Zheng Pa ; This man tried to bring some stability into Dae's life again, and even though he isn't the same as Pa, he does what he can to be what a father should be. Dae is grateful to be lucky enough to have him in his life.
nuna's
Nuna Hy-Hy — For the entire time that Dae has known Kyung, he has also known Hye Su. She has always, and will always be, what Dae thinks a sister should be. Her strength, intelligence and drive are all as equally impressive to Dae as her beauty and talents. He never seems to stop being amazed by her, and if he could find ways to make her sure she would forever be happy in life he would.
Nuna Yuan — They were neighbors when Dae had to live in Tokyo, and they became incredibly close. When Dae had no one else in his life she was there for him, and often made him feel like family long before they were legally made so. He is always incredibly appreciative of the luck he has to have her in his life, and his protective nature over her is fierce.
Nuna Mei Rong — Another Zheng Nuna now. She's incredibly outspoken, and for that reason alone Dae actually gets along with her rather well. She does all the things most people wouldn't expect someone like Dae to appreciate, but because of his issues with expressing himself he respects her for being able to do it so well and without care.
Nuna Vee — Her bouncy personality made Dae instantly attached to her, and over the time that they've known each other that bond has only grown stronger. He respects her word and trusts her endlessly, and he's grateful to have a woman like her in his life.
Yvonne Rousseau — A woman who was rather distressed thanks to some occurrences in her life — like people going missing and her prophetic dreams. Dae wanted to help her and has be-friend her, genuinely liking the woman and enjoying her company. She's slowly become one of his closest friends, and Dae finds a strength in her he doesn't always get. She's more family than not now.

Hyung Zai Zai — The first person Dae got to speak to over the community, and a man Dae used to have a large crush on while growing up. Since they've met a lot has happened between them, including Jun getting back together with Yuan (who is now Dae's sister). Dae counts him as one of his closest Hyung's, and the one he confides in most.
Hyung Kenta — A neighbor in Tokyo, Dae met him randomly and became quick friends with the boy. He enjoys his family as much as he does Kenta's company. Wants to get him with someone he thinks will make him happy. Sang I'll Be and I'll Follow You Into The Dark for them at the party he threw.
Hyung Kenji — The head of the Maruyama household, and extremely entertaining. Dae thinks he's a really good father, even with all his eccentricities to him.

Kyu — Dae and Kyung have known each other for most of Dae's modeling career, and over time they've dated on and off. Their last break up was rather awkward, which lead to them not speaking for a good year or so until the Outbreak occurred. Dae has always had strong feelings for Kyung, and this time around he's trying hard to make things comfortable for Kyung since he really does feel incredibly serious about him. Everything he does (tattoo's, rings, a home etc.) he does to prove that his love for Kyung is unending, and he has no plans on letting him go again.
support systems
Ducky — A guy he met on WoW and eventually hung out with in real life. They hit it off and have been friends ever since. Very happy that he is still alive in Korea.
Juju — Ducky's younger brother and just as awesome as him. Dae treats them both as extended family and is very fond of them.
Dessie — Met her back in Tokyo when he had to help out the Revival Project to set Seoul free. She was one of the few people at the base that he was able to talk to and not be completely irked out by, so he got to talking to her. Someone considerate and kind, Dae likes her a lot.
Hoshi — He was a fan of her music before he met her, and met her when he was forced to live in Tokyo after the Outbreak. Over time they've become good friends, and it's because of him and Vivian that she gets laid now. Sang I'll Be and I'll Follow You Into The Dark for them at the party he threw.
Melody — A kind of sister to Barbie so she is now a kind of sister to Dae. She also happens to know Kyung which makes Dae happy, because Kyung always needs friends. Dae is going to do his best to help her with her abilities since he remembers being confused and lost about his own.
Shinji — Someone Dae met just post-outbreak when he had to live in Tokyo for a while. Shinji ended up becoming an incredibly close friend to Dae, and one of the first people he opened up to after everything happened. Dae counts his friendship as one of the reasons he was able to get back to being more of himself.
Erika — Worked with her on a few shoots in Japan. Her nature didn't bother him much since she didn't comport herself as someone ridiculous like he's worked with, and there was something about her that made him realize she was a good human being. He clings to that like a bee to honey in the industry, so they became friends.

Young Min — So, Dae doesn't think he's all that bad. He doesn't even think he's a bad match for Hye Su. Maybe he'll see about helping them to not hate each other if he decides he has a death wish.
Hel Hel — A nice girl over in Los Angeles. She's shy and seems sad so Dae tried to talk to her and cheer her up. He's making plans to try and get over his fears so he can visit her once he gets things settled down.
Eun Hee — She commented to him randomly on the network and seemed decent enough. Dae calls her Eun Hee to make up for her not enjoying her own name, though he didn't really question her on why. Her reasons are her own and he doesn't mind that in the least.
Aidan\Doyle — Dae spoke to Aidan months ago about concrete and it's key to survival. Dae finds him very funny in his way, and he definitely enjoys his small conversations with him.
Fiorenza Valenti — (Missing) One of his friends from while he lived in Tokyo, she was always kind to him and they helped each other as they could.
Marian Cranleigh — (Missing) Never got to make a nickname for her before she went missing, but she was someone he always thought rather nice.

Chinnom — His bastard ways don't effect Dae considering most of the guys Dae has banged are the same way. While he's interesting to him Dae is trying to resist wanting to do more than talk.
Jade — (Missing) Cute Australian guy. While Dae wouldn't mind doing some things with him he is rather.. odd in his way. Dae doesn't distrust him he just doesn't really feel like doing much more opening up than necessary. The flirting is fun, though.

— Only really prefers playing the piano and has written a few pieces for his school plays.
