Dimitry Sergeyevich Solovyov

Unlike his sister, Stasya, Dimitry wasn't quite as rowdy as a child. To this day, he figures it's because she took all the energy in their mother's genes and kept it to herself. He was a mellow child for the most part, always busy with games. He was a bit of a loner at first, but as soon as he was given a drumset that brought him a little bit out of his shell. It was a distraction from his noisy sister, but it was so much of one that he couldn't notice her changing either.

It bothered him to see her causing trouble, and had a mixed effect on him. Part of him wanted to join her and that way she wouldn't have to stand on her own agains their parents, and the other half wanted to ostracize her as well. So, he settled on doing neither. He feigned indifference and become something of the middle man despite his youth, though that innocence he still possessed helped him remain somewhat adjacent to the reality of the situation.

After Stasya went into rehab, he had more or less figured out what was going on. She had lost friends, she was a mess, but she was trying to fix herself. Because of that, he never let himself get involved in half of what she did. That didn't stop him from getting into trouble as he got older, but he had a lot of unpleasant reminders as to why he didn't need to go down that same road. He can't deny that there were many times that he was tempted and might have tried, but he never pursued it. He couldn't bring himself to disappoint her like that.

While part of him had thought he was disappointed in her, he was anything but that when he saw her get into University and study what she wanted. He was even more enthusiastic when she took an interest in singing thanks to Andrei, and a band was formed: Velvet Nightingale. It wasn't that he didn't mind the name, but Heaven's Night was just cool. He had even gotten his high school girlfriend -- hey, senior year counted -- to be the lead guitarist. As far as he was concerned, things couldn't have been better.

During University, he studied computer programming and graphics design and worked in bars on the weekends to make some side cash. He was given a pretty sweet deal that worked well with being in a bad band, so his schedule always remained pretty flexible for that and for doting on his lady, of course. Everything was going well, really, until Katya's father had his accident and then subsequently: the outbreak.

All of it was more than anyone really could have wanted on their plate, but he tried to keep it all together until he found out Katya had been bitten. It was a bit of breaking point for him for his temper, and he took it out on a lot of the infected just to cool his head so he coud be there for her. The band was understandably put on hold, but he is pleased that they have gotten to do a show or two here and there now.

A little reckless and sometimes rough around the edges, Dimitry isn't as bad of a guy as he sometimes makes himself out to be. Although he didn't directly follow in Stasya's footsteps for all her parent displeasing behavior, he wasn't the most innocent kid around either. Sometimes he has a bad temper, but he has a better handle on it than most due to being around so many women all the time. He likes to think he's patient, but he can be a little touchy at times. When he loses his temper, he has a tendency of saying and doing a lot of things he doesn't mean at the time. And he's never, ever mentally equipped for an argument with a girl.

As the middle child, he was sometimes annoying with a need for attention. Thankfully, he grew out of that, went through a few phases, and settled on pleasant indifference. He only really cares about the people around him and can be a little unintentionally callous about it, but that's nothing a few reprimands can't fix. He really hates being scolded though.

He does have a good heart, however, and with it comes a protective streak. It comes out mostly over his girlfriend, Katya, especially with the offset of the outbreak. He can be a tad overbearing, as he's a bit of a dunce in handling heavier emotions and dire situations. He's a slow learner, but he gets there eventually. It's not impossible for him to be understanding, he just hasn't quite figured out how to be that way properly quite just yet.

Clairvoyance — An ability that allows him to see objects around him even while blindfolded if he wishes. He can have visions of the future even while awake, as he'll just stop and space out for as long necessary.

Sand Form — The ability to convert himself into a destructive sand blast by simultaneously transforming the substance of his body into loose silicon particles and creating an explosive release at his center, expelling his sandy mass at high velocity in all directions, then cause his particles to reassemble themselves back into his human form. With apparent telepathic control, he can then move at high velocity resembling a sand storm. The sand storm effect is strong enough to destroy steel and rip the flesh from one's bones.

telepathic resistance — It is very hard to telepathically detect or influence while in his sand-like form.

enhanced durability His skin, bones and muscles are augmented to make them stronger and harder than a regular human. This makes him impervious to injury to a certain extent (when in his sand form).

magical resistance — It is very hard to magically detect or influence him while in his sand form.

weaknesses — He can be deterred by wind and water when in this form.

Self-Explosion — Dimitry possesses the superhuman ability to literally turn himself into a living bomb. He can blow up his entire body at will and exists in a sentient, gaseous form until he reconstitutes himself. His maximum blast force is equal to about 250lbs of TNT. After he explodes, he can reconstitute himself at will and can remain in this gaseous form for an indefinite period of time. He can also generates a type of kinetic field around his body that also allows him to reconstitute the clothes he wears at the time he explodes.

Yelena Borisovna Solovyova — Mother. Deceased.
Sofya — His younger sister. He tries to be less protective since Stasya compensates for them both sometimes, but he's probably not as cool about it as he thinks.
Stasya — His older sister. Regardless of how she gets onto him, he knows he needs it once in awhile. He is secretly protective of her, but in a manly sort of way. She's always kept an eye on him and while sometimes he's been irritated about it, he appreciates it more than he'll say.

girlfriend

Katya — His girlfriend of a couple years now. He's the one who asked her to join the band, because she's badass. Desite his own shortcomings, he's really crazy about her and isn't above pleading with her or giving her nice things for her to take him back when he's stupid. She's Batman, he's Robin and somehow he's okay with that.

heaven's night

Andrei — Bassist! That's also his sister's boyfriend. He has respect for him and likes him. They got along well early on for their similar interests. He also appreciates what he's done for Stasya.
Katya — Guitarist! And incidentally, his girlfriend.
Shura — Violinist! She's recent, and.. different! But she seems like a nice person. He doesn't mind her as much as he probably should with how weird she is, but he's biased because she's such a great musician.
Stasya — Singer and keyboardist! Also his sister.

acquaintances

Jade Sinclair — Being the reclusive drummer of the group means Dima doesn't usually meet people unless A) his family introduces him, or B) his girlfriend does. Jade was a product of the latter. He doesn't mind the guy, everyone's usually a decent human being in Dima's book.
