personality

Much unlike her brother, Danisette is a soft-spoken young woman who prefers spending her free evenings reading rather than out partying. Her brother worked as her voice and decision maker up to their adolescence, when Danisette finally started taking Debate and found her voice there. Since then, she's been known to make a stand for herself when needed, but prefers avoiding all sorts of confrontations all together. She's a rather introverted individual that becomes rather flustered in large parties, but doesn't mind large groups if they're composed of people she knows or is fairly well acquainted with.

She has a strong urge to do what she thinks is right and, if there's one thing she absolutely hates, it has to be when people are oppressed or swayed to not stand for what they believe in. Such situations elicit a side of her that is rarely seen and there have been instances where a curse word or two slip out in her efforts to tell the oppressor to back off. She's a completely different person when she's off planning weddings, though, finding that that's the most effective way to channel her creativity and feelings. If there's one way to get her to open up, it's by talking about weddings. She keeps several scrapbooks with mementos of every single wedding she has planned up to now. She still keeps close relationships with the brides and grooms she has helped tie together and definitely won't give up the chance to help a new couple with their wedding. She always had an affinity for designing wedding dresses but, unfortunately, was never quite coordinated as far as sewing went.

She always keeps a hold on her emotions, but has been known for getting drunk when things become too much for her, much to her embarrassment (she can't tolerate alcohol well – at all). Luckily, her brother has been at her side for every hangover – be it to chastise her or hold her hair back when she's puking. She's quite proud of herself, however, for not getting drunk at all since he got married. After all, who's going to be with her when she's wobbling back and forth?

history

Danisette was born to a middle class family in London, the eldest and only girl of two. When she was four, she was either blessed – or cursed – with the arrival of a little brother who would proceed to turning her world upside down and, more or less, become her best friend. She grew up extremely close to her brother, whose name she shortened to Nat (his full name was Nathan); despite the many times he hid her things or blamed her for snatching the freshly baked cookies from the tray. He turned out to be her mentor and bodyguard in one way or another, despite the fact she was older than him. The growth spurt he underwent in his adolescence certainly contributed to people mistaking him as the older sibling, but Danisette never minded. If she could have had things her way, he certainly would have been born first.

She remained close to her brother, even more so when economic troubles struck their family in their teenage years. The problems were of enough impact to cause both parents to separate, leaving their mother with two mouths to feed and one less source of income for the family. Danisette attained her first job at age fourteen where she worked as a delivery girl and she learned to never take the issue of money lightly. From that point onward, she's been steadily saving what money she could, and that certainly became useful when the Pulse struck. Luckily enough, however, both siblings got a good enough education that left them with careers that brought in more than enough income. Nathan became a neurosurgeon while Danisette works as a wedding planner. Ironically enough, Danisette has yet to encounter a successful relationship. While the fact does bother her, she tends to busy herself with all the weddings on her schedule and ignore the unlucky situation altogether.

The outbreak was enough to cause the family to tip off balance again. The siblings lost their father just a week after the Pulse to the infected – and his body was never found. It's become a touchy subject for them, especially to Nathan, who looked up to him despite his absence after the separation. Danisette is a lot closer knit to her family now more than ever, nearly forcing her mom to move into the vacant house less than a block from hers. Nathan married three years ago (a wedding planned by Danisette herself) and now has a family of his own to look after, leaving Danisette with no choice but seeing her brother less because of that matter. Although she is lonelier because of that, she tries to do whatever she could to entertain herself, even if it means repairing computers or blenders gone wild for some extra spending money.

powers

  • technopathy — Danisette can understand any sort of technology easily and has the ability to manipulate it to her liking. She can even "communicate" with technological appliances, to a certain degree. She can render them incapable of working or she can even make a fifty year old appliance start working like new. Because of her ability, she has developed the quirky habit of treating them like sensible beings, occasionally patting the laptop that refuses to work or coaxing the internet connection that has been working slowly for weeks to finally speed up a little.

Because of her technopathy, she can also read filtered / private posts and strikeouts. It isn't on purpose all the time, unless she knew the person and wants to snoop. 8)

  • omnilinguism — Exactly what it implies: she understands and can speak any language. There are instances where she becomes nervous and spurts out random sayings in any random language. It's a bad tendency she's learned to control relatively well over time, but it still happens.
