History

Carlisle grew up in a typical British household, being born and living in Liverpool. His parents were affectionate towards their children, but their schedules always seemed to come before their son. His younger twin siblings, Priscilla and Mark, took the hours that their parents worked much better than Carlisle did because they often took to eachother's company. They never meant to exclude Carlisle, but he was so different from the like-minded children that it was hard not to. He had an irrevocable affinity for the sky and everything that was in it, and his siblings couldn't relate. Finding unique shapes in the clouds or studying constelllations was what he considered a good time, but nobody was ever around to share the celestial sights with him. His happy-go-lucky attitude made it okay for a while, and he was perfectly fine with being a loner until he left Elementary school. He's certain that his luck was what helped him survive the years that led to his Graduation from secondary school, because he avoided grave injury and death too many times not to have some sort of Guardian Angel watching him. Many of these incidents stemmed from his use of pot, which helped ease the pain of not having a great deal of friends to relate to. Carlisle regularly got high and made a merry fool of himself while he attempted to do homework by the moonlight, surviving a great deal of falls from trees, oncoming traffic, and miscellaneous dangers. This made his grades suffer immensely.

It wasn't that Carlisle wasn't a good person. He was known for going out of his way to help others with their schoolwork, which was another reason why he never paid attention to his own. He was a relatively smart kid when he wasn't under the influence, and he thought that putting others before himself would make people want to be his friend. And it didn't. People tended to step all over Carlisle and misuse his generosity, never learning enough about him to even consider friendship. He was always known for his capacity to laugh and move on, so everybody seemed to be okay with what they were doing. There were two friends that Carlisle made towards the end of High School that managed to save him from his addiction and the people that used him, and they were definitely the first friends that he had ever made in his entire life. Lucy Beckermann and Harry Wilson actually saw Carlisle for what he was, and they made his parents aware of the marijuana use they were previously not privy to. The only straining problem that always existed between the trio was Carlisle's feelings for Lucy, which couldn't be reciprocated. She and Harry had been dating for almost a year when they met Carlisle, and it took a great deal of effort for him to try not to feel like the third wheel. Carlisle did end up admitting his feelings for Lucy after they Graduated, which did not end very well. She was bound for the same University as Harry, and they were both extremely happy together. The hurt friend was almost happy that he would be moving to Paris and starting a new job immediately, but he could never forget how much they did for him.

Joanna and Fred Toome felt responsible for their son's tough time in High School, which is why Fred got a job for Carlisle at his own new office in Paris. Carlisle didn't mind the work, but it couldn't compare to his dreams of working in the astronomy field. He became slightly better at keeping acquaintences and friends in Paris, and he made one or two that he became very close with. They didn't fill the void that Harry and Lucy dug, instead making their own special place in his heart. Both of these friends died in front of his very eyes, as a group of undead beings crashed a small party that the trio was having. Carlisle nearly died attempting to protect them both with random pieces of furnature and fire pokers, but it wasn't enough to save either of them. Carlisle was fortunate enough to have been offered a new position in Dublin from his father; Fred had ascended the corporate ladder enough to gain management positions in Ireland. Paris basically treated him a bit better than London did, despite how everything ended.

Carlisle's abilities also opened new opportunities in his life. After witnessing the death of his two friends, he found it difficult to refuse an offer to join the ranks of the Project's force groups. Balancing this task and his desk job has put him under a great deal of stress, but he's dealing with it all with a grin on his face. He feels like a superhero, or so he says.

Personality

Slightly spastic and typically smiling, Carlisle is the easy person to get along with that, somehow, nobody gets along with. He's quite a character, often using comedic relief to get him out of tough situations. Full of energy and life, it's strange to see that he has problems making friends. Even though he often helped others in High School because he wanted them to be his friends, he now understands how gratifying it is to help others and not expect anything in return. He learned that from Lucy and Harry, his first two best friends. To this day, he'll still get hit by a bus for you if even if it inconvenienced you only slightly less than before.

He's nurtured his compassion over the years, and he's filled with it now. He doesn't think it because it never happened in High School, but his charms disarm people rather quickly. However, he doesn't always know how to use it. He's still secretely on the skittish side when he talks to other, or offers them help. He's usually okay at hiding it, of course. He stood up for himself much more once he got to Paris, but the fear of being used again still exists. In all, Carlisle posesses a personality of great amiability, but he's still not entirely confident that it's true.

Relationships

Family

  • Reese Toome; Dad. Got his son a menial sort of desk job with his big corporate company. Some sort of thing involving cars. >.> :Db
  • Eliza Toome; Mom. Cares a lot, but sucks at showing it to her kids at times. She volunteers a lot of her time to the Project when she's not working.
  • Priscilla and Mark Toome; Nice enough siblings, but they could never wrap their heads around how Carlisle functioned. They were both heavily involved in school activities and friends, leaving them no chance to see that their brother was escaping through the use of marijuana. Like their parents, they've been trying to make a better attempt to get closer to Carlisle.
  • Lee; No blood relationship is shared between these two (ahaha, no pun intended??), but Lee's family has been close to the Toomes for years. Carlisle took to little Lee right away, and looked after him like he was a nephew of sorts. He doesn't know about Lee's current affliction just yet..
  • The Oliveira's; Thi's just one member of this family. Reese sold Adeline a car, and they ended up becoming good friends. Carlisle's known them for a while, and like his other family friends, he clung to them. He treats Thierry like a brother of sorts, and is definitely the closest with him.

Friends

  • Harry Wilson; An athletic football player and overall dork. The latter of those two things is basically how he got along with Carlisle. Really liked the guy, but he didn't really take it well when he heard that he loved Lucy. Carlisle doesn't know this, but Harry was secretely jealous of Carlisle's undisputable connection with his girlfriend and thought that they would be better for eachother.
  • Lucy Beckermann; Average in physical appearance but dynamic in personality, Lucy's firey ambition and love of laughter were two of the many things that drew Carlisle to her. A wonderful and helpful friend she was, until she realized that Carlisle really liked her. She felt nothing but platonic feelings for him in High School, and the awkwardness of it all separated her from Carlisle. Carlisle's over her by now, he..thinks.
  • The Gang; Carlisle's small group of friends in Paris. Two of them in particular, Ron and Beth, became his closest pals. They, along with three other very close friends, died at a party thanks to the hands of the infected. Carlisle mourns all of their losses still, as it's only been a month or so.
  • Anne-Marie Feroulet; Carlisle loves his Mom dearly, but sometimes he wanted to trade her with Anne-Marie as a child. As a friend of the family's, she still keeps an eye on Carlisle after all of these years.
  • Yvonne; Her husband was one lucky guy. *.* Carlisle met Yvonne through Beth, who studied in the prodigious Conservatoire de Paris like she did. Yvonne was an extremely classy and genuine lady, and Carlisle definitely enjoyed her company. He doesn't know about all of the things that happened to her, yet.
  • Murdoc; Carlisle reveres this man's writing capabilities, and has followed his short stories in the weekly newspaper. He's very refined and capable of excellent conversation, and Carlisle's pretty honored to have a guy like him in his acquaintence.
  • Danisette; Carlisle went to one of the weddings that she planned in London, and they managed to become great friends after meeting eachother there. She's an introvert, but Carlisle must have done something right to get her to open up.

Romantic and Physical Relationships

  • Some girl from school took his virginity when he was sixteen. He was really high and probably drunk, and he still doesn't know who it was.
  • Beth Mercer; Carlisle briefly dated Beth, a close friend that he made in Paris that was considered a member of his very small group of friends. She was probably destined to be a brilliant actress. They ended up just staying friends before this relationship could get sexual.
  • Reza Blackwell; A friend from London that spent a night with Carlisle. They decided to remain friends afterwards, and he has no idea what to make of her memory loss.

Acquaintences

  • Mr. Lancaster; He can tell that this guy is on the uppity side. After all, just look at the car that he could afford! But Carlisle played cool around him and got him the best deal possible on his Roadster, so there's no ill-will between these two at all.
  • Miss Evey; Welcome to Dublin, indeed. Carlisle made straight for her bar as soon as he got to Dublin. He was homesick, and still extremely upset from losing his Paris friends. She's seen him at his worst, and she offered a shoulder to cry on. Carlisle couldn't not approve of her.
  • Miss Surrender; A very reserved and very nice girl. Carlisle couldn't believe that she listened to him ramble about the stars, and that she seemed really concerned about beating himself up (which he really does, but he normally plays off as a joke). He also approves of her experience in travelling, and was astonished when she claimed to want to paint a space scene for him.
  • Miss Bromstad; Carlisle knows that he fails with people, but he refuses to give up on getting some sign of warmth from Isabella. Whether her good side exists or not, Carlisle would love for it to come out, in his perfect little world. A fellow Dublin resident.

Pertinent In-Game Events

  • Moved to Dublin. Two new jobs were acquired; one with the Force Groups, the other at his Father's car dealership.

Other tidbits of Information

  • Hates the number three. See why?
  • Meet your local atmosphere-related information encyclopedia. He's researched just about everything that he knows about space and the sky, and is even very good at explaining the sky's qualities when it is daytime.
  • Stays up to star-gaze a lot. Roofs are his favorite. He's notorious for sitting up on the roof for entire nights at a time, even if the weather threatens to freeze off his extremities. His Mom wouldn't let him sit out in rain or snow, at leat.
  • On that note, he doesn't sleep a lot. Between working with the Force Groups, his day job, and spending his nights on the roof, Carlisle functions on a big cup of coffee with cream and his own pep.
  • Yeah. That's not enough to keep him from appearing to be on the eccentric and slightly hyper side. But it's a lovable sort of crazy?
  • Murdoc Byrne's work got him into more short stories, which ultimately got him to read more than his non-fiction books. One of his favorite short stories is by an American writer named Flannery O'Conner, entitled "A Good Neighboor is Hard to Find".
  • Falls asleep on the roof, occasionally. If rain hits while he's sleeping unexpectedly, he always takes it like a good sport and is more concerned about not seeing his stars than how wet he's getting.
  • He may almost be thirty years old, but he loves video games. Favorite kinds usually involve sports, first-person shooters, or the DDR/Guitar Hero/Rockband sort of things.
  • Doesn't really care that he's getting older. He's attempting to be very positive about the future, even though he doesn't think he'll ever get to university and pursue his dreams. He's actually pretty content with helping the Project and his Dad, for now.
  • He can get embarrassingly drunk if nobody is there to watch him, and he's more prone to get in a state like that after what happened to his friends.
  • Despite all that happened with Harry and Lucy, he's sorry. He would love to see them both again and figure out of they're still alive.
  • He loves animals. None of them really abuse him like people do. He's actually very partial to rabbits, but the only one that he has right now is his Mini Lop, which he named Canes Venatici. He calls him Canes for short, and the name is taken from a very small constellation. His parents enjoyed keeping dogs, but their Wesland terrior almost tried to eat Priscilla's leg off, once the outbreak came. The Toomes are taking a break from pets, besides Carlisle.
  • Canes started to attract himself to electrical-oriented things ever since the outbreak, and has avoided bodily harm of any variety. Carlisle thinks that he got powers too, but they haven't been developed enough yet. >.>
  • He's too used to having to be super-polite with people at work, so he'll usually attach a "Miss", "Ms." "Mrs.", or "Mr." to your name if he doesn't know you that well, unless he has no idea of your marital status.
