background information

history

As her last name would indicate, Sierra was born in an Italian family, specifically Sicilian, one with powerful ties to the mafia. While normally this might indicate that Sierra might be one hard-boiled egg, she was mostly unaware of the source of her family's wealth, accepting it with the obliviousness of a child and instead concentrating on the love her parents showered her with. It was only when she became older than her parents used money, not true affection, to satisfy her, and with knowing that, Sierra began to distance herself from them.

Once that happened, it was as if the mafia decided to intensify their connections with the Bellini family. Suddenly Sierra's older siblings (she was one of three) and her parents were more concerned with the dirty underbelly than freshly teenage Sierra. Feeling rather jaded by the change in circumstance, Sierra continued to let herself become isolated, having no interest in becoming like her family and instead focusing on her studies. She was known to be bitter and sharp-tongued at school, so friends were hard to come by, though there were a stubborn few that clung to her no matter how hard she tried to shake them off. And despite what she told them, she was grateful; she was, honestly, getting very lonely.

She graduated university with a degree in English, interested in becoming a translator and getting as far away from her family as possible. Her family expressed huge disapproval in her decision, her father even going as far as to threaten using force, but by this point Sierra was so far gone, she could not care less about them. She moved to London, England, working for a tourist agency based in Italy and acting as a guide while she sharpened her sights on perhaps working for the UN instead of this measly, useless job.

While in London however, she met someone who would have an irrevocable impact on her life. Tae Min was far, far from Sierra's ideal, and the way he understood her so easily unnerved her, but she unwillingly let herself fall for him. Their relationship was far from perfect, but the years they spent together began to make Sierra believe that, maybe, things would work out - that maybe she would settle down with this guy. She was angry with herself for thinking this, but also a little excited. She had never let someone get so close.

Her family, however, were still focusing on trying to get Sierra to join their escapades. When she let the mistake of mentioning Tae Min to her sister happen, her family quickly sent her an ultimatum: either she came back home... or Tae Min went. Angry with herself for being so stupid, Sierra mulled over her options for days before she told Tae Min to get out of her life, the only way she figured everything would work out; in her eyes, no matter what, she was going to lose him anyways. The added pressure of her sister's manipulation, reiterating that Sierra was only a burden on Tae Min and that she would only drive him away in time, made Sierra make the decision to leave him, claiming she didn't need him anymore.

Once their relationship was successfully severed, Sierra stole away to Dublin, trying to throw off her family - she hasn't spoken to them since. Life was relatively quiet, minus the outbreak of the virus, and Sierra tries to live as low-key as possible in case she draws her family's attention back to where she's living.

personality

Initially, Sierra is a rather caustic, frosty individual. She does not react well to strangers, preferring to keep to herself rather than let in any nosy whoever. Her business is her business, and she does not see why people feel the need to involve themselves. Because she is so private and distrusting, this deters most people from really trying to establish a relationship. Her sharp tongue also does not help with her rather intimidating nature. Some people might call her a 'bitch' but it's pretty easy to pick out that her prickly outside is a defense mechanism for her softer center.

Because Sierra feels she has been let down often, she is wary of depending on other people. She is afraid of disappointment, for herself and for others, and she has learned the only way to prevent this is to focus on herself. Because of this, Sierra is fiercely independent, almost always rejecting help from others (including her closest friends) as if to prove that she can paddle her own canoe by herself. Her determination to prove her worth also has contributed to her rather proud attitude, always a tiny bit insulted when people do offer help - it shoudl seem apparent she does not need any.

But inside, Sierra is just like anybody else: a bit scared, a bit confused, a bit lost. She is a very caring person, often to the point of self-sacrificing, but hates being called on it - she would prefer people did not notice the little things she does. She feels being this soft towards people is a little like having a weakness; it's easy to manipulate Sierra by threatening the people she cares about. It might be difficult to get her to open up, but it's easy for Sierra to feel attached to people without much effort on their part, though she would never admit to being like that.

She's also very afraid of being alone and having the people she loves leave her. She is fiercely protective of conserving the happiness of these people and by ensuring that their safety is promised, willing to risk her own chances at both happiness and safety for someone else. It's not that Sierra lacks self-worth, but she has trouble letting go of that tiny complex that makes her feel obligated to protect her friends and family.

On an interesting aside, Sierra has no qualms about physical intimacy, having been able to disconnect it from emotional closeness. She views it as a nice upside to being nice-looking, and her confidence in this arena is quite obvious if you bring the conversation around to it. She's not casual with who she chooses, but she is not necessarily as uptight about who she'll give her body to as she is about her heart.

powers

super speed — Without signs of fatigue, Sierra can reach up to the speed of light when fully utilizing this power. Because of the high speeds she can travel at, Sierra is capable of running across liquid surfaces, such as water, or vertical surfaces, such as walls. When running, friction becomes negligible, so her feet do not catch on fire - however, that means it is quite difficult for her to stop running. She usually needs to slow down a large distance away from her stopping point, or have some sort of attack or obstacle stop her.

music of the spheres — Sierra is able to tap into the hidden music of the planets and the white noise of the universe expanding. Since the planets and universe are constantly in motion, this power may be executed at any given point in time. The use of this ability immediately has a hypnotic effect on the listener, giving them a sense of peace and nirvana as long as they are listening. Sierra herself is impervious to her own power. It is primarily useful in calming down zombies into a sort of catatonic state while she works to think of a strategy.

detonation — Sierra posseses the ability to build up immense pressure and energy within herself through intense concentration and cause herself to explode to any varying degree from absolutely nothing to an explosion equal to nuclear fission. This pressure is released outside of Sierra's body, thus making her safe from any damage it may cause.

invisibility — Sierra can cloak herself in an illusion that makes her impossible to detect with the human eye. In appearance, it will make her blend completely into the background behind her. However, her mass is still existant, meaning she can still receive or give attacks, and that on a radar, she would show up.

relationships

family

Vittorio and Portia Bellini — Her father and mother, alive in Rome, Italy from what she knows. Angry with her from defecting from the family.
Maria Bellini — Her older sister of five years. Sierra did not know her well, nor does she care much about her.
Antonio Bellini — Her older brother of four years. Was not particularly close to him, and she probably would not trust him.

notable ex

Tyler — It is safe to say that Sierra would not normally like his type; but despite everything, he seemed to worm himself past her walls. For his own safety and her own future, she decided to leave him, but there is not one moment of the day that he is not within her thoughts. She hates herself for letting him matter so much to her until the present day, but she is too proud not to acknowledge it. She felt he might have saved her from her family, but of course, now that destiny seems pretty dim. Tyler also remains her one weakness and the one person she would consider risking everything for. If there is one person she has ever loved, it was, and still is, him. Sierra's greatest fear is that her love and need for Tyler is a burden.

mafia ties

There really is quite a number of these people...

Bianca Falaguerra — Another person from her past, she seemed to embrace the lifestyle much more than Sierra did. She only really saw her the few times her family had business with Bianca's family, and so she probably would not recognize Bianca on the community if she saw her around.
Chiara Rosato — Sierra's family sometimes worked with Mala del Brenta, explaining how these two women know each other. Being similar in ages, they sort of grew up together, in a sense, seeing each other every so often when their was a co-op operation between Chiara's group and Sierra's family. It is safe to say Sierra never really embraced crime like Chiara did.
Odette von Mayer — Kind of who she is afraid of becoming. From what she hears, the pretty exterior hides a cold-blooded killer. Sierra has no respect for this kind of person, and the fact she is a reminder of her past does not really make her seem any more likely to be friend material.

others

Bae Wook Sakong — Was his tour guide once upon a time in London. From what she recollects, he's a fairly successful photographer. He asked to take a picture of her, and she turned him down, lmfao.
Kasumi Akashi — An old friend of Tyler's that also eventually became a friend of Sierra's. Sierra always found the way Kasumi acted interested, especially since she is so different from her. However, knowing the way she left Tyler and the way she treats him now, she's quite sure they aren't friends anymore.
Saoirse O'Connor — Sometimes Sierra goes into the bookstore where Saoirse works when she hits a writer's block. She does not know Saoirse's name, but she feels she knows her face pretty well. It is unclear whether she would be receptively friendly or not.
