history

back story

Only a psychic could have predicted the unfortunate turn his fortunate hand in life would take. Until his luck ran out, Tristan had everything he could have wanted at his fingertips. His parents had been descended from an already well-to-do line of Lancasters and this generation was no exception. If there was money to be made and covet, a Lancaster would find a way to double the earnings. They were ever moneymakers. That fact was passed down from Lancaster to Lancaster as they dated back prior to even the dropping of the bombs, that was the kind of legacy they possessed. Incidentally, that was also where Tristan's namesake came from. A favorite jackass had the name in their family tree though never popped out any kids that he knew about, so instead his given name was passed down every so often.

Although Tristan never held an interest in his family's legacy, he was readily focused on their riches. He was a natural with finances even as a child. His parents saw in him a regular business tycoon, though Tristan was never quite certain if he really did want to tackle those sort of endeavors. He liked the kind of freedom he thought he had until his parents came down hard on him as the eldest in the family in terms of school and taking charge in carrying on everything that made them a Lancaster. It was a lot of pressure and he found out all too quickly that he didn't like being pushed into doing something for anyone. Of course, he wasn't left with much of a choice.

Grudgingly, he went along with the wishes and whims of his parents. He excelled in school in all the right classes and what he didn't he just paid someone else off to pull some strings for him. It wasn't the most honest way to do it, but they weren't subjects he would need going into the field that had already been selected for him. If he got in trouble, then that was on his parents and not him as far as he was concerned. He could have cared less about even advancing his education, but looking back he'll always be grateful, on some level, that he did.

Once he got to college, Tristan started rebelling again. He had a whole lot more freedom at his fingertips, but when his grades slipped one semester he never heard the end of it. His parents threatened him with money and that was the best way to get to him. He shaped up and in his last year of college, the unthinkable happened. His parents landed themselves in an awful car accident and neither of them survived. Unexpected as it was, he still feels the worst part of was finding out the terms of their last living wills. They had yet to update them, which was understandable in a way. They had no way of knowing what either son would wind up doing with their lives to entrust them with their money, but to find they wound up with nothing sent Tristan into a state of seeing red. It took him weeks to calm down and even then his anger was roused by the sight of their houses being repossessed and everything they couldn't claim absolute ownership over, his car included, sold off at auction for charity.

Once he calmed down, however, he was able to finish up his last semester and graduate. Fortunately, that had all been paid for accordingly. That was the only thing that had worked out in his favor. He set to work trying to find a job so he could help get his brother through school and so on, but Channing had made his own kind of luck. That worked out well enough for Tristan as he didn't have much to work from, but he was nothing if not crafty. To get him by, he essentially became a mooch off any willing woman. He wasn't interested in becoming a kept man like his brother, not as much as he valued his independence, and there was something to be said of the satisfaction one could get out of accomplishing a goal with one's own hands. Setting out to do just that, he made a vow to himself that he'd get back on top.

With his business prowess and knack for all but tricking women -- and even some men (though by different means, obviously) -- out of their money, he was back on his feet within the same year of losing it all. Once he found some stability in that regard, he went job hunting. He had little to no experience, but his name still carried weight. When that was the card that earned him a position, he turned it down. Using the name of his parents that had all but disinherited him, intentional or not, was not a part of his great life's plan. He wanted to do it on his own, and eventually he did.

At least, he got to steer himself onto the road that would lead to that success. He took a financial gamble that paid off and earned him some notoriety. Because of it, he was taken on as a leading corporation's financial adviser. Although he's not rolling in the dough like he was prior to the death of his parents, given his skills and silver tongue - he knows he'll rise above them soon enough. He has enough patience to pace himself and not rush into anything despite his few brushes with frustration. Confident that he'll get to where he wants, he has only two goals left: to financially surpass his parents and to buy back the family house with his own hard earned cash. And as always, it'll be done by whatever means necessary.

Since his life has settled down to a degree, he's not living in the right lap of luxury yet, but he's certainly avoided not being in one altogether. Settling down has never crossed his mind, though it did. There was an heiress he met somewhere along the way named Brooke. She was more trouble than she was worth, or so he'll say now. They were as bad for each other as they were good. She was the reason his temper got better and inevitably hit its worst by the end of their tryst. Because of the bad way things turned out with her, he's never tried to actively date anyone again. It's been a couple of years since their would-be relationship fell apart at the seams. So, whenever he sees her he turns the other way. She knows him better than anyone else and that really bothers him.

Then again, the impact she left on him is unmistakable. He still sleeps around and womanizes, but not nearly as much as he used to prior to meeting her. Whether it's because he feels, deep down, some loyalty to her or simply just guilt for using girls and left - even he's not sure. He doesn't like to think about it and he's not about to change his ways completely. That wouldn't be in his Lancaster nature at this age.

personality

The silver platter in which he was handed fostered in him an arrogance the size of Tusas Anuire itself. It's entirely likely that he's never done a good deed in his life. He looks down upon those of all walks of fortune, though he may be swayed by a pretty face. Obnoxious and often caught without a decent sense of humor, there's hardly a thing redeemable about him. He uses women and throws them away mostly because he doesn't want to stick around long enough for them wanting him to pay for what he can't afford. Since he doesn't have deep pockets to call his own, he tends to pinch his pennies for his own personal gain, as he doesn't intend to stay what he considers poor for long.

After losing his parents, he lost everything on a financial level. Although it affected him, the fact that both he and his brother were left without a penny to their name soured his disposition altogether. He doesn't talk about them at all out of sheer disdain for their lack of preparation while they were still alive. He brought himself up to always try and expect the unexpected and was gravely disappointed they didn't do the same. Having that mindset was what kept him from having to live on the streets after the estate was done being probated, however, since he was putting money away and had just recently graduated from university. Stuck in his present state, he's still trying to adjust to not-so fun-filled lifestyle of having to scrape up cash just to get by from one day to the next. Even now, his frame of reference for the lesser class is pretty bad; however, being as smart and clever as he is, he's been quite slick and knows how to get what he wants out of people.

For all his denials and disappointments that he's locked up - and there's likely no getting him to talk about being essentially disinherited - he's still essentially a prick that doesn't appreciate anything life throws his way. He's just cocky enough to blow it off and even downplay his own efforts that earned him a decent enough job with his business and education experience so he could help support his brother until he was old enough to do it for himself. As luck would have it, Channing got his hooks into a pretty sweet situation and so his added expenses vanished quickly enough. Tristan has since become slightly less interested in being filthy rich and is more inclined to deceive people into thinking he came from money. With a put-on charm and smooth word or two, he's still prime for using women to his advantage in that regard. That isn't to say he views women as objects, far from it. He's been around enough businesswomen to know it's quite the contrary. The ones he picks to be around are simply easy and fall right into his hands. He becomes relatively playful around the opposite sex, but the real person underneath it all is heavily guarded. He doesn't have any emotional baggage, he just has no desire to be himself.

It's just all about that self-gratification in the pursuit for what he deems happiness.

Trinity — Hit on her once while she was dating some chick. That chick ended up being a boxer that knocked him out, just about, and Tristan himself took some time off from macking on the opposite sex. No harm no foul though. At least, not on her part, so he's cool with her whenever he sees her.

Brooke — Bitch, hmph. He doesn't talk about it.
