personality

Kouji is definitely not the golden boy of the century and never has been unless you count the years where his mother tried to form him into a perfect little gentleman. He likes to party, loves to smoke and likes to drink. He's pretty much done everything illegal to him at the moment and really has no qualms about it. How he sees life is that it's too short to follow basic rules and might as well do what you want when you want to. Even though he's seen as rebellious, Kouji does have a side to him that is rarely seen by anyone with the exception of his father. When alone with his father, Kouji tries very hard to be the son his father wants him to be.

He's fiercely loyal though he does tend to put his needs before anyone else. His sense of space is something lacking and his regard for other people's feelings is something he needs to work on. This sometimes tends to get him into trouble and gets him verbally or physically attacked. Often the physical fights tend to take more of a toll than they usually should due to his hate of losing. He's pretty competitive and will always aim to be better than the original since he often says it has to do with his own pride. Kouji likes to tease people and push their buttons, even with his closest friends. He does it all for fun though unless you somehow irked him, then the teasing will become relentless and his goal in life will be to make you as uncomfortable as possible.

On the inside, he's a pretty insecure individual though he carries himself as confident and always absolutely sure of himself in all situations. He's still pretty much a little boy but he really doesn't want anyone to see it. Kouji is exceptionally good at keeping his feelings hidden from people and will always tell everyone that he's 'just fine' and 'don't worry about it' even if he's about to break.

history

Kouji was born and raised in the busy city of Tokyo while his parents were still together. It wasn't until he turned 13 that his mother asked for a divorce and then left the house with all of her belongings. He was baffled by the sudden abandonment but at the same time was relieved. His mother was overbearing and tried to control his life while manipulating him into doing things she wanted him to do. In short, he was her little puppet and was powerless against her. While he did love her, she is his mother after all, he felt that he was better off without her once he realized that he could form his own opinions and think for himself. His father was an honest, hard working factory worker and without his mother's income of a translator, Kouji and his father found themselves living through some pretty hard times.

They lived in a fairly small two bedroom, one bath apartment but even then the rent for the apartment grew to be too much. His father thankfully had relatives that were more than willing to take them in but to live with them would mean that they would have to move to Okinawa. In the beginning, Kouji was against the idea. He had a life in Tokyo. He had friends and was playing in a band. He didn't want to leave his easy life in Tokyo for Okinawa. Hell, he wasn't even that fond of the beach. But eventually, his father convinced him to move. In the end, Kouji didn't have the heart to separate from his dad just yet. So, he and his father moved to Naha to live with his grandparents.

He finished out his middle school and high school there and all the while picking up the habit of smoking and drinking. Despite the fact that they were on an island, the bad influences were still there and he got drawn to it like a moth to a flame. During his middle school and high school years, he increasingly got more skilled at the bass guitar. It was the only thing he saw himself to be any good at besides maybe Pokémon. He joined Genkaku when their bassist left for Tokyo and didn't really understand the entire story but he saw it as their thing and didn't want to pry. People had a right to their own secrets and if they wanted to tell him or didn't, he would be okay with it.

The outbreak was something that tested him. It tested his will and strength to protect his friends and family. Though he didn't lose anyone close to him, the fact that he was scared was something that irked him and made him want to become stronger.

after the bombs

When the bombs dropped, Kouji managed to survive because of his healing powers. Because of the urgency of the matter, his healing powers reached their full potential and he was able to live through the attack. His healing abilities became the most prominent of his powers and eventually took over what used to be his most frequently used power, his musical empathy. Through the years, he allowed himself to age until he reached his mid twenties and then stopped himself from aging. When word got around that there was an underground city located in Ireland, he left for the city almost immediately. After settling down there, he eventually married a woman named Tori after he slept with her a couple of times but the marriage didn't last long because after a year, they filed for divorce. They constantly fought ever since their marriage became official. After his divorce was settled, Kouji ran into an old face that he thought he would've never of seen again. Soujirou had survived the bombs as well and Kouji finally gave in to him and started a relationship with the man.

The relationship was probably the healthiest ones Kouji had ever been in. Soujirou respected his space and Kouji eventually fell in love with him. However, he knew that he had to let Soujirou go as the years went on and told him about his immortality. They accepted that they couldn't be with each other forever and Kouji couldn't bring himself to watch the man he loved grow older and older as time went by so they ended the relationship while Soujirou was still young. To this day, Kouji has never loved another person as much as he loved Soujirou with maybe the exception of one woman who died when the bombs dropped. Eventually Kouji ceased being a prostitute and opened up his own music shop, naming it 'Genkaku Music'. His pokémon help out around the store as he still has his DS which is fully functional and now works off his own life force rather than a battery. He occasionally plays bass and guitar to keep his skills sharp but otherwise, he just runs his business in the Aniar sector.

POKÉMON MASTER – Kouji can carry six pokémon with him and use them in battle or to help him with other things he needs. They are linked to his DS and he physically has pokéballs attached to his belt much like Ash Ketchum of the Pokémon series. He can switch out the pokémon but he has to do it via DS and also the pokémon are very much alive so they're essentially like pets when out in the real world.

PIKACHU → Lvl. 80 – Stays out of his pokéball much like Ash's Pikachu.

CHARIZARD → Lvl. 70 – Has 'Fly' ability.

GYARADOS → Lvl. 55 – Has 'Surf' ability.

MEGANIUM → Lvl. 65 – Has 'Cut' ability.

ESPEON → Lvl. 67 – Has 'Flash' ability.

LUCARIO → Lvl. 53 – Has 'Strength' ability.

HEALING – The ability to heal wounds whether serious or a small cut. Kouji can heal others and himself but it does physically drain him and make him tired if he uses the power too much. He can heal serious life threatening injuries and this power now makes him immortal as it continually heals him and allows him to keep his youthful appearance as well as let him choose how old he looks.

HACHIKO – Dog. Hachiko was named after the famous dog and he pretty much loves this dog a whole lot. She's still with him to this day.

DAIKI – An incredibly old friend of his. They were in the same band together before the world went to hell. While Kouji resented him a little, he got over it when he thought that Daiki was dead. Turns out he's not to dead and...things are kind of awkward now thanks to Cupid.
HAMLET – They're neighbors and Kouji eats at Hamlet's restaurant a lot. They get along really well and Hamlet is probably his closest friend besides Moriko and sometimes Soujirou.
MASARU – Kouji's a regular at his bar. He's a chill guy and likes music so he considers Masaru a friend. He reminds him of that one guy from KAT-TUN Momoko was a fan of but whatever.
MORIKO – The singer of the band he was in and a long time friend. He's happy that she's found her happiness and absolutely adores her kids.
TIERNEY –
DONG HUA – He got to know her through Tierney! She's tolerable for a woman...! He likes her enough to consider her a friend~

TORI – His ex-wife. They were together for only a year and most of that year was spent arguing. To end the marriage, he cheated on her and flaunted it in her face. Kouji pretty much never wants to see her again but he hopes she can find a man crazy enough to handle her bitchy personality.
SOUJIROU – A former customer of his while he was still a prostitute. They dated for several years before calling it quits. He's the first man Kouji ever allowed himself to love and frankly, he's still in love with him but he keeps that to himself. They're still in touch but only as friends.

ELIZABETH – He met her once at a club and slept with her. His purpose of sleeping with her was so that he could get divorced with his then wife because she was crazy enough to stay in the relationship though they fought every night and day. She's still a nice girl and he says hi to her when he sees her but that's about it.
MAX – They banged when cupid struck again. Kouji's thankful that at least he's good looking and was better than he expected. It wouldn't do to have crappy sex for the second time cupid worked his magic.

DAD – Kouji protected him when the bombs dropped and died of old age because unlike Kouji, he didn't want to live forever.
GRANDFATHER – Along with Kouji's dad, Kouji protected his grandfather as well. He didn't live too long after the bombs had dropped but he died of natural causes and in a happy home.
MOMOKO – She was his "mother" and probably the only woman he was ever truly in love with. However, he didn't want to jeopardize their relationship so he left it as it was. He's still shaken up from her death but does his best to move on.
