In Between

One thing Alexandra had always been proud of was the fact that she could trace her family up to more than a thousand years. Some kids would think this to be boring but she found it amazing, impossible to mimic or ignore. It brought to her mind stories of fairy tales, of her great-great-great-great-grandparents being part of some countries’ stories, of fighting dragons and other powerful beasts. Her childish mind had adored that.

Born to an old, powerful family, Alexandra was allowed to grow by herself. Maids and tutors, teachers in every butler, every servant of her home, she thrived in learning from. Of course not all was perfect but she quite enjoyed her life. Eventually, she understood that the walls of her home kept her too closed. The world was a big place and she had seen so little of it. Her mother was the one to explain to her of those countries which she could only see through the computer or random books. She told her stories from when she lived by herself, spoke of family that she had stopped seeing a long time before in order to live with her husband. And, little by little, Alexandra cherished the small wish to leave.

It would take far longer than she expected. But still, she had always been patient to a point. She bid her time and learned more, tried to become better because that was what she needed to become. And once she achieved majority, she freed herself. Said goodbye to her mother, waved her father away and all those who had been her teachers. Soon enough she was on the road.

Which could have been considered a pretty stupid move by someone who had never left a confined space. In the first months Alex was sure she could have hurt herself gravely too many times. She had to learn to do everything from scratch. How to survive in a society in which young girls living by themselves were a tempting target. She managed though. Managed to live long enough, to evolve enough to be considered slightly able. In was after those years that she met Norio. It was he who opened another path for her to live. Young as she was, just as foolish or even more, he introduced her to others like them and taught her what she would consider her rules in the future.

From there to the Outbreak and beyond, time seemed to flee. She became a bounty hunter, one between the many of the so called family which had taken her in. And like that, she travelled different countries, learned more and more just like she had always liked to do. Alexandra never returned home until the world changed. When it did, she changed nothing. The ‘guild’ expanded and evolved with the world, became even more dangerous than it had ever been.

The fact that she’s still in Ireland means simply that it’s near home that she likes to rest. Travelling and learning it’s still what she wants for her future.

After The Bombs

Asked years later about that day, the most Alexandra could say is that, she didn’t understand anything of it. Everything went too fast, too quick and unexpected to be perceived. That was probably her salvation. In that blank state of mind, her spirits took over, pushing her and those with her with them to… somewhere. A dimension without sun, just a dark starlit sky to which those beings she summoned called home. It made even less sense than the flames which had been tearing down the guild. They seriously tried to explain to her but it all came down to one fact. They were connected to her and, while they existed, they would attempt to keep her safe. The friends that they had brought with her to that place were merely luggage. If any of them complained about the term used, they honestly didn’t voice it. It was enough to be alive and safe.

Equally, none of her three friends were able to tell her how long they remained in that place. All Alexandra knew was that she was weak for a long time, probably a consequence of holding the presence of all her spirits at the same time on that rescue moment. And that took its toll. It was probably her spirits’ resistance to allow her to leave to keep her for longer. It was not safe, they said. You should wait a few more months, they asked. And she conceded. Enough to make her friends long for the outside world even if dangerous and horrible to face.

Eventually, she requested to be brought to their world once more only to find destruction. Everything they had known and loved faded into nothing. And even worse, while they had thought mere two years had passed in their dimension, more than ninety years had indeed passed. Everyone they had met, the people who were their family, Alexandra didn’t have any hope of finding any. Perhaps that’s why it shocked them so much when they discovered their Master, still living and as old as ever, and the small cell of their organization which had survived.

There were new faces being shown and so few old ones. Alexandra felt that pain more strongly than the one of her own father or her mother. It was a complicated time for all of them, filled with tears and mourning. Maybe it because easy to get up again due to the fact that they had aid. Little by little, they started knowing their surroundings once more, started moving in odd jobs for those around them.

• Recent Events

~ 23th, January, starts watching the community.

~ 31th, January, goes to the parade but is hit by one of the falling rocks. Her right arm is broken.

~ 13th, February, Cupid makes her fall for Joe. That was slightly awkward..

~ 19th, March, zombies are still annoying and she's getting a new dangerous weapon as soon as possible.

The Girl

The first thing to notice about Alexandra is that she is mostly smiling. She likes living, she enjoys showing it and anyone will be able to see it even after a short time around her. There are bad things, odd she had faced and will have to face in the future but that doesn’t stop her from enjoying yourself with each and every task. Which leads to the fact that she searches for which she enjoys the most to do. Once she was forced into tasks which did little but annoy her. Now, she chooses her own path and makes sure to do the best she can, all she can do. It’s a childish way to live and most will not understand her. But still, she pursues all her interests, one by one until they bear fruit. By the way, she’s also damned good in what she does, thank you.

Stable and confident, probably even more because she forces herself to be so. Her friends are hardly the most stable people around and she wants to make sure she can help them. Even if that can only be done by kicking them into shape when the time is right. There’s also the other side of the medal. They have also become her strength and she’s conscious that she can push herself further and farther as long as one of them is around her.

Alexandra is a free spirit, little more to that. Money, possessions, those things matter little to her. If she can have a roof over her head and annoying people knocking at her door – or her door down – she will consider herself happy. While she’s able to dream, she feels fine. And she dreams a lot.

Powers

• ~ celestial mage → inate ability to summon several spirits or, more correctly, materialize them in the physical world. Alexandra is not sure if they are actual spirits or souls but each of them has its own personality and habits so she just accepts them as livings beings and adores them for being with her. The final manifestation of this power is a complicated spell which is mainly destructive, combining the energies of the several spirits she houses.

~ aquarius → the water bearer is a long haired mermaid with the ability to control water. She is rather annoying, very hot headed and most of the time hurts Alexandra more than she helps.

~ taurus → as the name indicates, he's a rather large bull, strong and hard to stop. He's also kind of a pervert and likes to make random comments about the female anatomy. Melee fighter.

~ cancer → a human-crab hybrid which mainly attacks with his pincers. He's a bit too focussed and has the odd habit of repeating the word ebi in the end of his sentences. Melee fighter.

~ virgo → the earth elemental. She is a kind, soft spoken human like spirit which tends to not make a division between harm and care unless someone draws the line.

~ centaurus → a human-horse hybrid which uses a bow and arrows. Inteligent and educated. Melee fighter.

~ leon → another human-like spirit but probably the strongest Alexandra can summon. His powers are all light related - like her own - and he's much faster and stronger than normal spirits. He also has the capability of summoning himself to her, something no other spirit is able to. He says it's because he's in love with her and they are obviously soulmates.

~ gemini → a pair of small creatures which hold the ability to mimic anyone else, ability and appearance wise. They are also able to mimic thought patterns and understand the feelings of the person.

~ aeries → a young female spirit and a very kind girl.

~ scorpio → from what Alexandra seems to believe, he's Aquarius boyfriend?! How does that work...? Melee Fighter.

~ crux → a large stone cross like spirit. He functions like a huge encyclopedia, actually. Though he does tend to sleep a lot whenever Alexandra needs him.

~ horologium → is actually a grandfather clock. Only alive. As weird as that sounds he's a bit like a buttler and tends to worry over people like few.

~ lyra → a fairy like spirit with a lovely voice. She's like a little kid. Only with wings.

~ nikora → cute and small and weird. Alexandra actually calls him merely for company as his shielding powers aren't that useful. She calls him Orion and allows him to remain in her house in a more dog like shape.

• ~ solar radiation absorption & rechanneling → capability to absorb solar radiation and convert it into energy through a process similar to photosynthesis. This energy can be used automatically as physical strenght or channelled into a various amount of effects. It can also be stored for as much time as necessary. Her skin turns black when she is using her powers as all light around is absorved.

~ flight → ability to propel herself through the air by generatic thermal currents.

~ thermokinesis → she can generate heat which is origined by the energy she absorbs. There is also the possibility to absorb the heat in proximate areas or project/absorb heat from living beings.

~ photokinesis → projection of light and absortion of ambient wavelenghts.

~ solar plasma blasts → destructive blasts composed of absorbed energy.

~ increased strength

• ~ light projection → Alexandra possesses a body-wide energy field that controls the energy levels of the outer electron shells of her body in such a way as to cause the cascaded release of photons. Basically, if left uncontrolled, her light will shine around her, producing random flashes of light when she is distracted. This light can be controled and even changed, meaning, color, intensity and duration can be changed. Patterns and pulses of light, forms and cascades of sparkling lights can be manifested.

~ lasers, photon blasts

~ illumination, strobes

~ holograms → creation of holograms of human beings and other three-dimensional beings and objects.

~ rocket burst → ability to ascend to the sky through direction of a column of light beneath her.

~ destructive shield → ability to create a destructive shield of light around herself with laser light that can vaporize small, oncoming projectiles.

~ light mist → glowing or hazy fog like effect which obscures the surrounding area.

~ light immunity → her body automatically shields itself from effects of her powers.

Relationships

The Family

• Mother ;; love love love her. She's the person everyone wants as a mom. Plus the scoldings, the random lectures and those little things no one wants in a mom. Deceased.
• Father ;; absent. Very very absent. And wanted to marry her off to a creepy little rich guy. So no. Deceased.
• Sister ;; younger, prettier, cuter. She is a bit old now. As in very old. Alexandra is now considered to be her granddaughter and not her sister.

Zodiac Guild

• Norio ;; the first person she ever met from the guild. He's also her constant company, her personal annoyance, her best friend and the person she feels like throwing out the window at least twice a day. He's an honest strong man though and she wouldn't exchange him for anything.
• Guilherme ;; man, what the hell is with this guy and clothing? It's like she has never seen him completely dressed unless they're in trouble which means he'll get undressed soon anyway. He's hellish strong though and while she wants him to stop mooching off her, she puts up with his messes.
• Helena ;; the strongest person Alexandra knows and her role model. Also one of the strongest persons in the guild which only makes it better. A bit weird every now and then though... but the best girl one can ask to have around.
• Master ;; the man who took her in, who asked everyone to look after her and gave the example. And the one who could stop slapping her butt because that's just annoying.
• A dozen or so more guild members.

The Friends

• Haneul ;; friends before the bombs, friends after. Even though she had thought she'd never see him again. He showed up, different and still the same, helping her out just as much as he always have. Nevermind he's from the government now. And old. And different. He's still Haneul.
• Hamlet ;; when things just seem a bit too weird at the Guild - read as, when everyone's fighting and destroying the furniture - she leaves and eventually wanders to his restaurant. He never failed to hear her comment on some things in this very annoyed manner. While she knows he could never get it, she appreciates the fact that he tries.
• Kouji ;; still reeling from all the changes in her world, she discovered a small shop around her Guild. It was there that she met Kouji, someone who she just had to push and prod as she would do to anyone else. He's good people. And good people need as much human contact as possible.

Random Facts

• She was born and raised in a small estate north of Galway.
• Can't swim very well so most large bodies of water scare her. Except the sea.
• This might also be connected to the fact Aquarius tries to drown her every now and then.
• Her preferred weapon is a whip. She produces it out of her own energy and it looks something like this.
• The guild is named Zodiac and is composed by over fifty people. Most are connected to bounty hunting though some offer discreet services such as bodyguards and alike.
• She lives alone and likes it that way. Only problem is that everyone else doesn't think she should be alone.
• Adores writing and reading. Is even writing a novel of her own which she doesn't allow anyone to see.
• Like every other kid, she likes dressing up. When she's not working.
• She has traveled from Europe to Asia and America only to come back. Nothing beats foggy and cold weather.
• The motto of the guild is do whatever you think it's right.
• Her father has attempted to get her out of the guild for several times. The last one, the most severe, lead a direct threat to the man's corporation by several of the members.
• She enjoys participating in renaissance fairs.
• Isn't very religious but likes to think people become spirits when they pass on.
• She can get a little violent with some of her friends when her privacy's violated.
• Hates hates hates sexual harassment.
• She has been brought up as any girl from a rich family. This means her primary goal was to show herself to be intelligent and sofisticated in order to find an appropriate companion. She complied to a certain extent.
• Can play just the piano and all basic and simple songs.
• Usually goes, at least, once every two weeks to Dolina. This allows her to recharge her body with direct sunlight which isn't exactly needed but seems to help her function better.
• One hundred years ago, Haneul gave her a small Irish Setter as a gift. Lady Lucy hasn't aged and, by pure luck, was brought with her to this time.
